Today we join our colleagues across the nation in celebrating Government Communicators Day. A day to recognize the hard work and dedication of those who keep our communities informed, engaged, and connected. Effective communication is at the heart of everything we do. Whether it's keeping residents informed about upcoming events, sharing updates on Village services, or gathering feedback from our community, we strive to ensure transparency and open dialogue. As we work on projects that enhance our village’s quality of life — such as the Resilient Infrastructure and Adaptation Program — we remain committed to providing clear, timely, and meaningful updates to our residents. ?? Let’s take a moment to thank the government communicators who make these conversations possible and strengthen our communities every day. #GovCommDay https://lnkd.in/enQXKm3k

?? What a fantastic day at yesterday's Harbor Park Community Meetings! We’re so thankful for the great turnout and for everyone who joined us to discuss the future of this beautiful greenspace. The weather was perfect for a gathering in the park, and it was wonderful to connect with so many residents. The Harbor Park pump station is a key component of the Village's Resilient Infrastructure and Adaptation Program infrastructure improvements in Zone 1. While these updates are essential for our community's resilience, we also want to focus on the community's vision for the park. If you weren’t able to attend or have more ideas, we’d love to hear from you! Please share your thoughts on features and how you’d like to see the Harbor Park greenspace used. You can submit feedback to: [email protected]. Together, we’ll create a park that serves as both a community hub and a vital part of our island’s resilience. ??

This recent Miami Herald article provides valuable insight into the Village’s efforts to address climate resilience through our Resilient Infrastructure and Adaptation Program, focusing on how road raising is a critical component to addressing rising sea and ground water levels. At last week’s Special Council Meeting, staff presented an update on the 60 percent design plans for the Zone 1 Integrated Infrastructure Project. The Zone 1 project is the Village’s?number one priority?because it is the most vulnerable, low-lying area of the village and extremely prone to flooding. The update aligns with the science-backed findings shared in the article, highlighting data-driven strategies to adapt to rising water levels and ensure long-term sustainability. These efforts also reflect trends being followed by other coastal communities focused on resilience and future-proofing their infrastructure.
