Viking Electric was founded in 1964 in St. Paul, Minnesota as a family-owned electrical distributor. Viking Electric opened with 7,000 square feet of warehouse space with a mission to be a leader in the electrical distribution industry; and provide quality products, services and solutions. Today, we have grown to 24 locations across Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Chicago, Illinois with 450,000+ square feet of warehouse space and 30,000 inventory items from more than 400 stock manufacturers. Company-wide, Viking Electric has a fleet of 75 delivery trucks that travel more than 3.3 million miles and deliver more than 500,000 orders annually. It is our vision to be the indispensable electrical supply chain partner central to our customers' success. January is National Mentorship Month and Viking Electric is proud offer a variety of mentorship opportunities to associates. Brooke Hunt - Operations Manager in Oshkosh, WI participated in the Empowering Women Mentorship Program (EWMP) as a mentee in Fall 2024, and here's her perspective regarding her experience. "I completed a self-assessment to identify my development goals. The mentor/mentee pairings are matched based on the skills of the mentor - within the areas of focus that I selected during my self-assessment. This was my first opportunity to participate in a professional mentorship program and my mentor match was impeccable. The time Kathy Jo Van and Stacey Felzer (Program Leaders) put forth to match mentor and mentee paid off tremendously. I completed the EWMP with my mentor, who I now consider my friend. My mentor helped me in all three key areas that I identified for my personal and professional development throughout our 12 weeks together. Due to this program being incredibly successful for me, I volunteered to be a mentor to a fellow new manager within my own organization. "My advice to the next mentee to enter this program: Take to heart your commitment to this mentorship program. The more you pour into this experience, the more you will gain out of it." #VikingElectric

It feels great to give back to the community during the holiday season! Ring & Run is a non-profit organization founded by Viking Electric associate, Mark Buttell, in Houston County (Southeastern) Minnesota. "Many years ago, my family and I received a benefit due to mass amounts of medical bills that still continue to this day - due to a congenital heart defect. In turn, I wanted to find a way to 'give back' to the communities we live in. Over the past 12 years, the Ring & Run has 'cheered up' more than 600 families or individuals who are nominated by members of our community. During last year's first extravaganza event, we had more than 360 people in attendance - which is further proof that our mission is very well-received and appreciated by many. We're now wrapping up our deliveries for 2024, which served every food shelter in the Houston County. In addition, we knocked on more than 70 doors to cheer folks up! Every year, Colam Entreprendre highlights initiatives taken by Sonepar’s associates which have an impact on environmental and social issues. Viking Electric is honored to be the 2024 winner of the Safety & Health at Work Award for our Good Catch! Safety Recognition Program. This program promotes a strong safety culture by encouraging associates to recognize safe behaviors and hazard awareness in the workplace. Through this peer-nominated program, associates can nominate colleagues when they observe positive safety actions. Viking Electric women build! Throughout the month of October, Habitat for Humanity coordinates 78 teams of 10 women to volunteer to build a house in Habitat’s block. These homes are ultimately sold to a woman homebuyer who otherwise would not have the opportunity to purchase her own home. In total, the Viking Electric team raised $7,445!
