    While CPG hasn’t typically been our space, when an opportunity to support a family-owned brand of Mexican food popped up, we couldn’t resist. The pain point we identified out of the gate was the need for variety to fight carousel fatigue. And graphic design brought just the spice.     You got it ? It’s the second image. And do you know why this image feels off? Graininess. Pores. Fabric movement. All are imperfections that subtly indicate life to the mind of the viewer. Without some deviations from perfection, a lack of authenticity presents. In this instance, the perfectly symmetrical features on the face and the lack of detail are the clear tells. Besides the funky fingers that are common with AI, what’s another way to spot AI? Skewed coloring. Outputs are often oversaturated or miss natural inflections of color, either too even or too distinct. It’s common to see overly flushed cheeks and red noses or a single skin tone applied uniformly across the entire body, which frequently gives off a ‘rubbery’ effect. Blurry backgrounds utilizing short depths of fields are often good giveaways as well. Last but most not least, balanced lighting is often a clue because AI tends to exaggerate the light often using strong, high-contrast, side light.
