?? WATCH: Victory Institute President & CEO Evan Low on why LGBTQ+ representation in public office matters now more than ever. ????? When we elect LGBTQ+ leaders, we ensure our voices are heard, our rights are protected, and our communities are seen. But too often, LGBTQ+ officials are the only ones at the table. That has to change. ?? More LGBTQ+ elected officials = stronger, more inclusive leadership. We’re working to ensure they never serve alone. ?? If you’re an LGBTQ+ leader in office or considering a run, we see you, we support you, and we’re here to help.

I’m incredibly humbled, honored and thrilled (to be quite honest) to officially join the Executive Board of Directors at the LGBTQ+ Victory Institute! This organization has been a driving force in ensuring LGBTQ+ voices are represented at every level of government, and I couldn’t be more excited to contribute to its mission—especially at this pivotal moment in our country’s history. I’m also thrilled to serve under the leadership of Evan Low, our newly appointed CEO, and Howard Pulchin, our newly elected Board Chair. Their vision and dedication will undoubtedly propel Victory Institute to new heights. And I would be remiss if I failed to mention Elliot Imse who has been an exceptional leader and partner since I first came to know the Victory Institute. On both a personal and professional level, this opportunity means so much to me. At a time when LGBTQ+ rights and representation are under a new level of attack, ensuring our community has a seat at the table is essential. I look forward to working alongside an incredible board and staff to support and empower LGBTQ+ leaders in public service.
?? Big news! I’m beyond excited to welcome Evan Low?as the new President & CEO of?LGBTQ+ Victory Institute & LGBTQ+ Victory Fund! ?? Evan is a trailblazing LGBTQ+ elected official and a proud alum of our programs—he knows our mission inside and out. At a time when governments across the U.S. and the world are trying to erase us, our work has never been more urgent. I’m proud to be working with Evan and our team to ensure LGBTQ+ voices are elected, empowered, and leading at every level of government. The fight continues—and we’re just getting started. ???

"Thank you, Madam Chair." That was Congresswoman Sarah McBride’s swift and dignified response when a male representative misgendered her during a House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Europe hearing. Since making history as the first out trans member of Congress elected in the U.S., Congresswoman McBride has faced relentless attacks. She’s been misgendered, silenced, and even banned from using the bathroom. But through it all, she’s remained focused on what matters: delivering for her constituents and ensuring Delaware stays front and center. Because LGBTQ+ leaders aren’t here for culture wars: they’re here to serve their communities.

WATCH: Montana State Representatives Zooey Zephyr and SJ Howell (both members of the Victory Institute family) just proved the power of LGBTQ+ leadership in action. ??????? Zooey, an alumna of our Woman Out to Win program, and SJ, the first non-binary person elected to the Montana Legislature, recently delivered compelling speeches that led 29 Republican lawmakers to oppose discriminatory anti-trans bills in Montana. Their courageous advocacy underscores the profound impact of having LGBTQ+ voices in legislative chambers. Despite facing censure for her steadfast stance against anti-trans legislation, Zooey's resilience, alongside SJ's dedication, exemplifies the transformative power of representation. At Victory Institute, we believe that when LGBTQ+ leaders are at the table, authentic and inclusive policies emerge. Zooey and SJ's leadership not only inspires us but also paves the way for a more equitable future. https://lnkd.in/ecsrcbUY Photograph: Brittany Peterson/AP, videos from Erin Reed.?

A big welcome to Evan Low as the new CEO at LGBTQ+ Victory Institute . I am looking forward to supporting his leadership in these critical years ahead.
Catalyst, Creative, Connector. Advocate for LGBTQ+ equality and committed non-profit board member. Proponent for intergenerational curiosity, work and doing. Committed to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
These are the words of a leader. Not just in title, but in inspiration. Evan Low is the leader #LGBTQ+ people need today. Couldn't be more proud to support Evan and push harder, dig deeper, and yes, fight for the representation that we so richly deserve, but is being denied to us. "My goal is simple but urgent: to ensure LGBTQ+ people are not just present in politics but leading at every level — federal, state, and local. We’re facing a wave of legislation aimed at silencing our voices, and the best way to fight back is to lead, to be visible, and to make sure our voices are impossible to ignore. Representation isn’t just about checking a box; it’s about making sure our voices are heard. Growing up, I didn’t see many visible leaders who looked like me or shared my experience. Today, we have the chance to rewrite that narrative — to show future generations that they belong in politics, in leadership, and in every part of public life. We’re not asking for special treatment. We just want the same rights and opportunities as everyone else — to have our families legally recognized, to work without fear of discrimination, to serve openly, to have autonomy over our own bodies. LGBTQ+ Victory Fund and LGBTQ+ Victory Institute will fight to make sure those rights are protected." And I invite you to join me, my fellow LGBTQ+ Victory Institute and @LGBTQ+ Victory Fund board members, our staff and partners to fight for the rights of the almost 10% of the U.S. population. We have so much on the line. ?? This International Women's Day, we’re fighting for a world where ALL women—trans women included—have a seat at the table. Right now, LGBTQ+ women are severely underrepresented in government, both in the U.S. and globally. But we’re changing that. ?? Yesterday, our Global team partnered with Yaaj México and Colombian Carolina Giraldo Botero to train over 100 women in Mexico to run for office, giving them the tools to lead and win. Because when more LGBTQ+ women step into power, they don’t just make history - they change the future. Let’s keep pushing for representation that reflects everyone. ??
