VCP empowers K-12 students with the academic and social-emotional skills to thrive in college or a career.
关于我们
Victory College Prep is a school network serving approximately 1,000 students in kindergarten through grade 12 from historically marginalized communities. We are sustained by a team of approximately 115 educators and support staff. We operate on a single campus in the Southeast region of Indianapolis as a Mayor-Sponsored Charter School. We are supported by civic and corporate leaders and committed to engagement with our Greater Indianapolis community. Through our school values of Community, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, and Persistence, we support the whole student by emphasizing academic and social-emotional learning. Our model leverages restorative discipline with trust in student capacity for self-growth, and we are open-minded and inclusive in words and actions. We work to build real relationships with students, families, and shared interest groups to produce better data-driven outcomes, and we champion college and career readiness with programs that directly serve our alumni.

This week, our school network celebrations to mark Hispanic Heritage Month included a unique opportunity for students in the K-6 School to learn from student mentors in our 7-12 School. The older students led workshops in classrooms for Grades 3 thru 6. The workshops included performing popular Hispanic dance styles, creating art murals inspired by the works of Diego Rivera, and playing the Mexican bingo-style card game Loteria. By serving K-12 students on one campus, we can inspire younger students through interactions with older role models. At the same time, our high school students develop leadership skills as teachers in the classroom. We are grateful and excited to be able to celebrate Hispanic culture in this powerful way!

We are honored to again host a Junior Achievement of Central Indiana #JAJobSparkIndy experience in the Government, Law, Public Service Career Cluster, showcasing how graphic design and marketing skills support our VCP school network. Wednesday, September 25, our grade 8 students will be JobSpark attendees at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.

Thanks to WISH-TV Daybreak for hosting us this morning to talk about our earning a $1.5 million Richard M. Fairbanks College Matters grant award and the tremendous impact this funding will have for years to come as we better prepare and send an increasing number of VCP graduates on to college. We're excited to reshape what it means for students to be college-ready while launching new programs that will help entire families financially plan for their student's college enrollment.

BREAKING NEWS: We are proud to be one of just five Marion County school networks awarded more than $1 million by the Richard M. Fairbanks Foundation to create new programs that will successfully enroll more of our VCP graduates in the college of their choice. The Foundation's College Matters initiative is reversing the trend of declining college matriculation rates in Indy. As a network supported by the Office of Education Innovation, we are proud to be the only charter network to receive this funding! https://lnkd.in/guBBh4XH

We appreciate our partners at the Indiana Department of Education for bringing the Roadtrip Nation Crossroads Connection tour to VCP this week! We are proud to be one of just a dozen school stops statewide to promote the new documentary series airing on public television that helps high schoolers explore career options in the Hoosier state. Our VCP high school students enjoyed meeting the Crossroads Connection stars and touring the Roadtrip Nation RV while also hearing from the state's Director of Student Pathways, Flora Jones.

Our teachers always seek new, creative ways to enrich the student experience inside classrooms, and our school network leaders are committed to supporting these efforts when and however possible. Last night, network Executive Director Ryan Gall and K-6 School Principal Valerie Miller invested $5,000 of network funding in 16 VCP teacher projects on DonorsChoose, helping our teachers access matching grants from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and fully funding their classroom enhancements. Today, Mr. Gall and Mrs. Miller celebrated our teachers' successful campaigns and VCP's support with certificate presentations!
