Continuing the “VIA Journey” with our new logo! In celebrating 60 years of VIA, we’ve also spent the past year reflecting on our identity and clarifying our purpose in the next decade, and beyond. Last fall, we renewed our mission statement and developed an accompanying vision statement to guide us in maintaining VIA’s core values while adapting to a changing world. We are excited to announce that we are refreshing our brand, including our logo, to better reflect these guiding statements. VIA offers individuals the opportunity to embark on a journey of growth as social impact leaders with tangible skills to create positive change in the world, balanced with a commitment to respect and learn from those around them. Our new logo signifies the journey or path (“via” in Latin) that we invite others to take with us towards deeper self-awareness, connection, and meaningful action. Our website, online profiles and platforms, and other communication channels will be updated over the next few months, so please excuse the digital dust and keep an eye out for future announcements!

Congrats again to Evelyn Kanganja for completing the VIA Programs Exploring Healthcare Program. During your final presentation we had a chance to see how your mindset grew during the program around the expansiveness of healthcare, and we were really moved by your perspective on being a healthcare provider and the depth of your dedication to helping others. Keep it up!

Last year, I had the incredible opportunity to participate in VIA Programs Exploring Healthcare Program, where I learnt a great deal about addressing social challenges through a healthcare lens. One workshop, in particular, left a lasting impact - it introduced me to the power of empathy in design thinking. In the realm of healthcare, it's not just about implementing interventions; it's about understanding the unique needs and challenges of the communities we serve. Empathy isn't just a word; it's the foundation of making healthcare better. It's about caring about others' experiences and listening to what they have to say. As I keep learning, I've realized that good ideas in healthcare don't just work on paper. They have to truly fit the lives of the people they're meant for. They should respect different cultures, be accepted by communities, and keep helping over time. Let's remember that behind every statistic, every diagnosis, and every treatment plan, there's a human being with a unique story, experiences, and needs. Let's harness the power of empathy to design healthcare solutions that make a real difference in people's lives.
