We’re excited to announce that Viant has acquired lockr—Viant's CEO and Co-Founder Tim Vanderhook said it best, "Addressability is the future of advertising and Viant’s acquisition of lockr is expected to accelerate its arrival across the programmatic ecosystem." lockr significantly reduces the time and resources needed for data integrations, helping publishers accelerate their advertising business by leveraging first-party data. Publishers and content owners who partner with lockr can integrate their first-party data seamlessly and enable a number of alternative ID partners in the #programmatic ecosystem. Last week Viant CEO & Co-Founder Tim Vanderhook went live on-air with Schwab Network to discuss Viant's stellar Q4 '24 earnings beat and strong performance.?? Tim masterfully highlighted how Viant is winning in the strongest growth areas of the advertising market: #CTV, live sports and #AI. Despite many companies in digital advertising reporting earnings misses this quarter, Viant has risen to lead the pack, and people are taking notice. Check out this great recap of Tim's Schwab Network interview with Nicole Petallides via Maria Schrater below. #FoundersMode #AdTech #DigitalAdvertising #DSP #EarningsBeat

In this Digiday article Viant COO & Co-Founder Chris Vanderhook calls attention to the “massive tailwind” we’ve gotten from #CTV growth. The most important takeaway here? Viant Technology didn’t catch this tailwind by coincidence—we steered the?ship?here. This highlights one of Viant's core differentiators: our focus on CTV advertising. Unlike other #SPO programs that prioritize Display, Viant’s SPO initiative, Direct Access, has been centered on CTV from the start—before it became “cool.” This latest piece from Digiday captures this latest evolution and how it’s turning the tides for industry challengers, like Viant. #AdTech #DigitalAdvertising

Really interesting strategy here when the early foundation of the TTD business was built putting the agency first. I can say having spent half my professional career on the client side (auto and pharma) that agencies are a critical component to comprehensive advertising success and that many clients have struggled to in-house programmatic entirely as they simply don't foster those skills. For example, auto company careers paths don't often include digital marketing expertise...the role is often a stopping off point for 12-18 months which hardly fosters deep expertise. Agency partners are critical and at Viant Technology we are doubling down to partner with agencies large and small to succeed together! Great insight Sam Bradley at Digiday!
The Trade Desk (TTD) and media agencies are drifting apart — a conscious uncoupling that crept in slowly but is now moving fast. Agencies say their spending isn’t climbing like it used to, while The Trade Desk is busy chasing direct deals with advertisers. It’s not a full on breakup yet, but both sides are clearly eyeing other options. One holding company media buyer, who exchanged anonymity for candor, told Digiday that rising client investment in CTV?—?and the many DSPs that can be used to place such spend — meant their agency was becoming less reliant on The Trade Desk over time. “We’ve had — we have — a great relationship with TTD.?I just think that the dominance of the inventory that they represent is less and less important,” said the buyer. In this piece by Sam Bradley, we speak to Jonathan D'Souza-Rauto of Kepler, Deanna (Cullen) Mulkeen of Wpromote, Ryan Eusanio of Omnicom Media Group.

In my LinkedIn persona, I repost articles and more, but I rarely pontificate. Yet, as time transforms me to “industry veteran,” I get asked to share experiences and, daresay, advice. Pandemic Realities At my post-Roku CTV content and advertising advisory company, Rust, I served many great firms, including VIZIO Ads, VICE Media, Adform, and more. I declined interviews for most jobs, but three notable companies rang just as healthcare costs in a two-consultant household increased. Company A: rapid-growth founder-driven ad tech Company A posted two VP roles: one each for CTV and Pub Dev. I suggested combining the roles. The hiring manager said, “Great, but we just want you to do what we tell you.” Shocked, I replied, “Good luck.” The company has performed well, but has over-leveraged its partners, thereby generating high ecosystem schadenfreude after a challenging quarter. Company B: international titan with Frankenstein ad tech Company B sought a SVP BD. The enjoyable interviews progressed far, and I respected their decision to hire an experienced former colleague. Afterward, they requested a CTV consultancy pitch; ultimately, they selected a more established firm “whom the founder had heard of.” Two silver medals, proving, “if you ain’t first….” This company recently exited the ad business. Company C: winner Finally: Viant Technology, with a SVP BD role. Within days, I met the recruiter, HR head, and the venerable CMO, Jon Schulz - then Tim Vanderhook & Chris Vanderhook. Chris noted, “sometimes, we want people to push back; we want other opinions.” I said, “Chris, I’m your man.” Two weeks from greeting to offer; with verification from trusted industry friends, I accepted. The Vanderhooks: Founder Mode defined, with strong opinions and smart strategies - but unencumbered by ego. They’ll course-correct, as needed, but they always welcome broad perspectives. Performance Proves Out Such an environment inspires success. We are: - Customer-first - Focused on impactful programs: CTV, Identity, and AI - Scaled through smart, efficient processes - Dedicated to our people & products Viant’s Q4 Earnings validate our approach: - Outsized CTV growth, on the strength of Direct Access - Our AI Planner has stormed the industry! We put AI to use for our customers, unlike any other ad tech company - Viant HH ID driving full-funnel, multi-channel success from input to outcomes Success has too many parents to list. But I thank our BD Team: Industry Legends Tom Weeda John Kemmerer; powerhouses Robby Barnett Patricia Dudziec; and energetic stars Annette Nguyen Jake Simpson, for putting the customers and company first. And thanks to our partners, listed in comments, for contributing to the success of our agency and advertising clients! #CTV #careeradvice #adtech
