"This one is hard, since I don’t like to brag. But I think it’s that I’m a partner in my firm. Even today, it’s not something many women are able to achieve. But with that I also feel a responsibility to help enable that other talented women can achieve the same." What is one piece of advice you would give your 18-year-old self? "It might sound cliché, but I’d tell myself to spend more time with those you love. You never know when you’ll lose them. Don’t live in fear of it but prioritize your people." What is the best advice you have ever received? "There are a few great pieces of advice I received from a variety of people in my life. But one helpful piece was to ‘toot your own horn.’ I didn’t brag about my accomplishments; I thought that if something I did was noteworthy, other people would discuss it. But that’s not the case, and I was told by a supervisor that I needed to ‘toot my own horn.’ I made a point to both discuss and email my accomplishments so that they were visible to everyone – rather than keeping them quiet. And since I still don’t like to brag, I’ll often start the conversation with, ‘I don’t like to brag . . . but . . .’ and then launch into my accomplishment." Who is a female leader in the legal profession who has inspired or influenced you? "Ruth Bader Ginsburg was a huge inspiration for me—not just as a lawyer, but as a woman who broke barriers and demonstrated that success in a male-dominated profession is possible, even against the odds. She showed me that women could not only enter the legal field but excel and redefine it on their own terms. RBG taught me to fearlessly speak up for my values, even when my voice feels small, and to stay true to my vision of what a lawyer and leader should be. She paved the way for me and countless young women to challenge injustices and fight for a more equal world." What is one piece of advice you would give your 18-year-old self? "I’d tell my 18-year-old self that success is not a straight path—it’s filled with challenges, setbacks, and unexpected detours. These obstacles, as overwhelming as they may seem, are essential for growth. They teach resilience, problem-solving, and adaptability—skills that are crucial for long-term success in both life and the legal profession. Trust the process, embrace the lessons in tough moments, and understand that these bumps in the road will make you a stronger, more adaptable, and successful professional in the long run."
