A big part of VHAN's Antibiotic Stewardship Program, which emphasizes the importance of appropriate antibiotic use and educates on the threat of antibiotic resistance, focuses on Upper Respiratory Infections (URIs)—a common reason for patient visits. VHAN’s clinical team has developed pocket cards for adult and pediatric patients to help reduce unnecessary antibiotic prescriptions for URIs, while keeping patient needs at the forefront. Members can visit VHANHub.com/antibiotics to download the pocket cards and browse other provider and patient education tools related to appropriate antibiotic use. #antibiotics #antibioticstewardship #antibioticresistance #URIs

Prescribing statins to eligible patients plays a vital role in preventing adverse health outcomes, yet misconceptions often create unnecessary hesitation. To address these barriers, we’ve developed a Statin Myth Busters handout designed to support clear, fact-based conversations with patients. VHAN members can print this handout for in-office visits or share it digitally to help patients make informed decisions about their heart health. https://lnkd.in/eHKvqHSQ

Health Literacy Month in October reminds us to choose our language carefully when working with patients. This month, we celebrate providers who go the extra mile to make sure patients understand the information they are given. We appreciate your hard work! #HealthLiteracyMonth #HealthLiteracy #HealthEquity
Did you know nearly 90% of Americans struggle with health literacy, according to the National Library of Medicine (NLM)? ?? People with low health literacy are more likely to have poor health outcomes due to trouble understanding medication instructions, difficulty managing chronic diseases, or skipping preventive services. Our Coverage to Care initiative can help those you serve understand their insurance coverage and access the health services they need.
