In times of disaster, it’s the dedicated efforts of our community that make the biggest impact. Heartfelt thanks to Virginia Department of Emergency Management, Virginia Department of Transportation, the Virginia State Police, and all of the dedicated Virginia employees who have been working tirelessly to support our communities during and after Hurricane Helene. VDEM has been coordinating volunteer and donation efforts to help our neighbors recover. Learn how you can support responsibly at virginiavoad.org. VDOT crews are still on the roads, clearing debris and ensuring safe travel. Remember to slow down, move over, and never go around road closures. Your safety and theirs depend on it. We also want to recognize the VSP and their aviation team, who completed a heroic rescue of 54 individuals from a flooded hospital in Tennessee. Your bravery is truly inspiring! Great energy tonight! The VGEA Board, staff, and new members, along with special guests from AMBA, came together for a productive board meeting in Chesterfield, followed by a fantastic meal at local Richmond fav, Joe’s Inn Bon Air. The discussions were inspiring, and we’re feeling incredibly positive heading into tomorrow’s 2024 VGEA Annual Meeting.
