VFW Command Visit – Italy, day two! VFW National Commander Al Lipphardt and staff traveled to US Army Garrison - Vicenza on Caserma Ederle in Italy. While there, the Chief: ? - Met with the garrison commander Col. Scott W. Horrigan and senior enlisted leader Command Sgt. Maj. Ricardo Moreno to talk about the unique needs of service members stationed overseas. - Spoke to the garrison retirement council, which is comprised heavily of VFW members who are #StillServing the Vicenza military community. - Toured Army Community Services, met with families who use the services and learned about ACS’s community outreach events. - Met with volunteers at the USO who bring a little cheer and comfort to service members and military families so far away from home. - Toured US Army Heath Clinic - Vicenza to learn about the unique health care needs of soldiers stationed in Vicenza. VFW National Commander Al Lipphardt and staff are at Aviano Air Base, Italy with the 31st Fighter Wing! On day one, the Chief: -Met with the 31st’s Commanding General Brig. Gen. Tad Clark and received a briefing from his team. - Observed operations in the air traffic control tower. - Met with the Spark Lab Immersion team to learn how Airmen are helping innovate “Big Blue” in solving everyday problems. - Had a candid discussion over lunch with the base’s Chief Master Sergeants about quality of life and ways to overcome the challenges of serving overseas. - Met with Aviano Air Base’s Italian Air Force hosts. - Listened to Airmen of the 555th maintenance team as they talked about the critical work they provide. - Recognized two airmen, TSgt Foreman and SSgt Necessary for their outstanding performance in maintenance.
