Helping Correctional Agencies Implement Programs that Resonate with Justice-Involved Individuals to Prepare Them for Reentry to Society
Virtual Reality Training has a growing presence in jails and prisons. These programs provide a safe and effective way to allow incarcerated individuals to gain specific skills and certifications to have a meaningful career pathway. I am so pleased to have the 2nd Opportunity Program as part of this type of re-entry preparation. I was attending the National Sheriff's Association's Conference last week and had the opportunity to spend time with my friends at Vehicles for Change. 2nd Opportunity will be working with VFC in a number of facilities in which they are providing their Auto Technician training program. Vehicles For Change VR has arrangements with national Fair Chance employers to hire individuals who receive certification through their program. Our courses in employment readiness, financial literacy, and life skills helps prepare them for joining today's workforce. Our post release support can help match them with employers. I see the use of VR Training as a big part of the future for currently and formerly incarcerated individuals. The possible uses are endless, including high school equivalency preparation and a wide variety of career certifications. There will be much more coming about our expansion in these programs.
