Reflecting on a recent achievement I’m truly grateful for. A while ago, I had the opportunity to collaborate with Riverside County Veterans Services on writing a grant. Honestly, I was surprised that Gregory Coffos entrusted us with the chance to develop a program and bring our expertise to the table. But it worked, and I’m so thankful for that. His leadership and support made this happen. Today, our incarcerated veterans in Riverside finally have a structured support system in place. This grant isn’t just funding; it’s a lifeline for those who served and found themselves facing challenges. This infrastructure means more access to resources, more hope, and a stronger community for those who need it most.
I'm excited to share some great news! Yesterday I got the opportunity to gush a little bit over my department as the Board of Supervisors approved Riverside County Veterans Services to accept just under $8 million for the BSCC Prop 47 Grant. This funding will be a vital support for our justice-involved veterans, providing case management, supportive service linkage, claim services, and re-entry housing. I know there's a lot of hard work ahead of us, but the most worthwhile things in life always require effort. I believe this program is one-of-a-kind in the nation, and I'm thrilled to serve this underserved demographic within our veteran community. I would like to say thank you to the board, my executive leadership team for their encouragement, and our friends and partners at Vetphoenix for making this a reality for our veteran community. #VeteranSupport #JusticeInvolvedVeterans #RiversideCounty #Prop47Grant

Yesterday was a defining moment at VetPhoenix. Our mission to serve incarcerated veterans reached new heights, thanks to the unwavering support of Riverside County Veterans Services . The ability to bring in laptops and hotspots to file direct claims for these veterans within the prison walls is not just a service—it’s a lifeline. What made this day even more significant was having Alberto Alpasan MHA from the California Department of Veterans Affairs witness the impact of our collaboration firsthand. The partnership between our nonprofit, CDCR, and Riverside County showcases a powerful model that could transform how we support incarcerated veterans across the state. This is more than just progress—it’s a movement. We’re not just aiming to help—we’re committed to setting a new standard for veteran care.

VetPhoenix held its Day 1 of its second benefits clinic in partnership with Riverside County Veteran Services at the California Rehabilitation Center. We are proud to be the first organization at CRC that not only supports incarcerated veterans but also builds bridges with correctional officers. At VetPhoenix, we understand that our mission is to serve veterans, no matter which side of the fence they are on. Riverside County Veterans Services

Today, VetPhoenix had the honor of welcoming home an Army veteran. He is the first participant in our “Ride to the VSO” program, marking a significant milestone for us. We helped find him housing, reinstated his benefits, and provided him with a good meal. Big shout out to Jacob and Tony at Riverside County Veteran Services for the amazing service. Proud to support our veterans every step of the way. #VetPhoenix #VeteranSupport #WelcomeHome (Consent to post was granted by Mr. Zuniga).
