As we celebrate ??????????’?? ?????????????? ??????????, we recognize the incredible contributions of ?????????????? ???????? ?????????????? — one of the most decorated women in U.S. military history. A West Virginia native, Bradley joined the Army Nurse Corps in 1934 and became a symbol of bravery and resilience. During World War II, she was captured in the Philippines and spent over three years as a prisoner of war, where she earned the nickname “Angel in Fatigues” for performing 230 surgeries and delivering 13 babies under dire conditions. After her liberation, she continued to break barriers, serving as Chief Nurse during the Korean War, overseeing over 500 nurses, and becoming a true leader in military medicine. Her 34 military decorations include two Legion of Merit medals, two Bronze Stars, and the Florence Nightingale Medal—a testament to her unwavering dedication. Last night, Veterans Collaborative had the honor of attending the Military Salute Night at the Washington Capitals game. VETCheck is a simplified vetting process of organizations that could possibly be grant recipients from Veterans Collaborative’s Fund(s), Partners, and donors. The process includes reviewing an organization’s mission, programs, and compliance, which allows us to identify and recommend organizations to our Partners. Through VETCheck, we transform financial challenges into growth opportunities for organizations working with budgets under $1M. This initiative is a clear example of how we are driving sustainable change and strengthening support networks for Veterans and service members.
