We love this pic. Not only is Christopher Jelf a Light Dragoon Veteran, an excellent photographer who’s been chosen to travel to Nepal with Kevin Wills and Hari Budha Magar MBE FRGS in May, but he also owns an amazing art, wine and event space on the Isle of Wight - that now stocks Powder Monkey Brewing Co finest brews.

In a couple of weeks we will be working with Alistair Moore to record some engaging video content. Our aim is to use them to dispel myths, help celebrate life after and because of military service, to counter the broken Veteran narrative and to highlight the strength and service Veterans bring to society. We’re excited about what we’re doing, buoyed by the support we’re receiving from many and inspired by the disapproval we’re hearing from some. Veterans Can… Do things differently. Veterans Can… Pay It Forward. Veterans Can… Serve on.

Not many people know that Dave Saint- Valen was a 3rd century Roman Army Padr e and his hard work, in and out of uniform, is commemorated around the world every February the 14th. When Dave left the Army he settled in his last posting location in the north of England and became a clergyman in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. Several years later Dave was martyred for protecting persecuted fellow Veterans. “Forget about it” were his last words apparently. Fair enough.

This man, like many others cut down in their prime, never made it to become a Veteran. If he had however, we think he’d have been a good one - and would not have wanted the world to feel sorry for him or those like him. He’d have smashed life as a Veteran! #VeteransCanShow
