As we continue to recognize Military Family Month we want to share one of the most effective ways to keep veteran families strong; supporting employment opportunities for both veterans and their family members. By providing stable employment, we can contribute to the long-term financial security and overall well-being of these families. Programs like VBH's Preferred Employers program connect veterans and their spouses with meaningful career opportunities. These programs recognize the unique skills and experiences of military families and provide them with the tools and support they need to succeed in the civilian workforce. Let's continue to support initiatives that empower veteran families and ensure their lasting prosperity. #Veterans #MilitaryFamilies #Employment #VBH #PreferredEmployers

Stronger Communities, One Veteran at a Time.
关于我们
Mission: A Strong Community, One Veteran at a time. Veterans Bridge Home helps Veterans in the Carolinas successfully transition home after military service by identifying their education, employment, social enrichment, and healthcare needs and connecting them to available community, state and federal resources. VBH is the one-stop shop for Veterans in the Metrolina (Charlotte), Triad, Sandhills and Triangle regions in North Carolina and Midlands region in South Carolina. Without VBH, the civilian community can feel overwhelming and confusing to a Veteran just leaving the armed forces. With VBH, Veterans in transition have a single point of contact to help navigate this very important life event, in a compassionate, low-pressure, and productive manner. The number of Veteran and Military families VBH connects and serves continues to grow each year, highlighting the need in our communities. VBH continues to lead the community towards making our Charlotte founded organization a national model of public-private partnerships that assist in transitioning our nation’s returning Veterans. Every year, more than 150,000 service members transition out of the military, embarking on the challenging journey of finding meaningful civilian employment. A recent RAND study sheds light on how federal programs, nonprofits, and organizations like Veterans Bridge Home (VBH) play a vital role in bridging the gaps in this process. Key Takeaways from the Study: 1?? Federal Programs: While $13 billion is invested annually across 45 transition programs, the focus is primarily on education and training, leaving immediate employment outcomes underserved. 2?? Nonprofits' Role: Nonprofits excel at personalized support—tackling credentialing, resume building, and addressing unique challenges. However, their sustainability often depends on philanthropy. 3?? Opportunities for Growth: Collaboration on performance metrics, reducing program redundancies, and innovative funding strategies can improve outcomes. How VBH Is Leading the Charge: At VBH, we’re stepping in to provide personalized, comprehensive support to ensure veterans thrive post-service. Our efforts include: ?? Employment Navigation: One-on-one career guidance, resume development, and connections to local employers. ?? Employer Partnerships: Creating veteran-focused hiring initiatives with businesses. ?? Comprehensive Transition Support: Addressing critical areas like housing, mental health, and social connection. ?? Measurable Outcomes: Continuously tracking and improving the success of our programs. Veterans bring unmatched dedication and skills to the civilian workforce, and with collaborative efforts between federal programs, nonprofits, and employers, we can strengthen support systems for those who have served. ?? Join the conversation: How can we work together to better support transitioning service members? #BeTheBridge #VeteranTransition #WorkforceDevelopment #VeteransBridgeHome
Supporting Veterans' Transition to Civilian Careers: High level overview from RAND's Veteran Policy Insights Newsletter November 2024 on Federal programs for transitioning service members included below. Each year, 150,000+ service members leave the military and face the daunting task of finding meaningful civilian employment. The recent RAND study highlights both the strengths and gaps in the current system supporting this transition. Here are some key takeaways: Federal Support: The government invests $13 billion annually in 45 different federal military-veteran transition programs, but 95% of the funding focuses on education and training—not immediate job placement. Outcome data is lacking, making it hard to measure effectiveness. Nonprofit Role: Nonprofits excel at personalized, one-on-one support, tackling challenges like credentialing, resume writing, and demographic-specific barriers. While funding for these organizations has grown (+34% revenue since 2016 for top veteran-serving nonprofits), their sustainability relies heavily on philanthropy. Traditional/historic veteran-serving organizations have noted a 12% drop in their funding. Challenges: Fragmentation and overlap among federal programs. Limited emphasis on immediate employment outcomes. Inconsistent data and metrics across programs. Opportunities for Improvement: Collaborate on standardized performance metrics to measure program impact effectively. Streamline federal programs to reduce redundancy. Ensure nonprofits have sustainable funding through innovative public-private partnerships. How Veterans Bridge Home (VBH) Is Filling the Gaps: At VBH, we connect transitioning service members and veterans with the resources they need to succeed. Our approach includes: Personalized Employment Navigation: One-on-one support to help veterans identify career paths, develop resumes, and connect with local employers. Employer Partnerships: Engaging businesses to create veteran-focused hiring initiatives and expand opportunities for meaningful employment. Comprehensive Support: Beyond employment, we address other critical areas like housing, mental health, and social engagement to ensure a smooth transition to civilian life. Outcome Tracking: VBH continuously measures the success of its programs to adapt and improve service delivery. Veterans bring incredible skills and dedication to the civilian workforce. By improving collaboration between federal programs, nonprofits, and employers, and with organizations like VBH leading the charge, we can ensure veterans have the support they need to thrive post-military. Let’s continue the conversation—what are your thoughts on how we can better support transitioning service members?
