??Tomorrow is Giving Day!?? Meet Katherine Ruelan! "After serving five years in the Marine Corps as an electronics repair technician in Okinawa, Japan, I returned home to southern New Jersey and transitioned into the electronics manufacturing industry. I worked full-time as a production supervisor—a role I genuinely loved—while attending community college part-time. As I gained momentum in my studies, I made the bittersweet decision to leave my job and commit fully to my education. I spent my final year at community college as a full-time student, earning my Associate of Science in Engineering in May 2024." "When I first considered transferring, Cornell felt like a long shot—but the more I learned about it, the more I could see myself thriving here. I took a chance, applied, and the rest is history (still in the making)." "One of the biggest factors in my decision to attend was Cornell’s student veteran community. From the moment I arrived, they’ve provided unwavering support, friendship, and invaluable resources that have helped me navigate this new chapter. Being part of this incredible group of student veterans has made all the difference, and every day, I’m grateful for the camaraderie and sense of belonging they bring." "CUVA has thrown some amazing events since I've been here, but I really loved the Halloween pumpkin painting! It was such a great way to unwind, get creative, and enjoy a movie with everyone in a fun, relaxing environment :)"

??2 Days until Giving Day!?? Meet Deniz Sanchez! “I am 27 years old from Brentwood, NY, and I proudly served as a technician in the Navy for six years. I currently serve as the CUVA treasurer while balancing my academic pursuits with a fulfilling family life—I'm a devoted parent in a family of four. Aspiring to become a rocket scientist, I cherish every opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors, whether I'm reading to my kids or playfully horseplaying with them when I'm not in school. “Veterans Winter Formal was one of my favorite events—it felt like a grand celebration of my first semester at Cornell. The evening was especially memorable because it was the first time my wife and I could attend an event without our kids, thanks to the Veterans Association arranging a babysitter for us. It was a night filled with laughter, connection, and unforgettable moments.”

?? 3 Days until Giving Day! ?? Meet Colton Cook! “I dropped out of college shortly after graduating high school and felt that I didn’t have a path in life or a steady direction. However, after joining the Coast Guard, I realized what I wanted to do for my career. Working in finance was always a dream of mine, and pursuing higher education was the way to get there. I started in community college, and eventually applied as a transfer student to Cornell. While navigating Cornell’s thorough application process, I was not entirely convinced that I was going to be a competitive applicant. To my surprise on April 12, 2024, I read my acceptance letter and was able to share the incredible moment with my family! Looking forward, I hope to secure a role within the financial industry.” #CornellGivingDay #VeteransAssociationAtCornellUniversity #CUVA #Community #SupportVeterans #SVA #CornellVeterans

?? 6 Days until Giving Day! ?? Meet Israel Davidson! “The veteran community here has been incredibly supportive, more than they may realize. ??7 Days until Giving Day!?? Meet Francis Xie! "I enlisted in the Marine Corps in January 2022 as a Radio Operator, responsibilities consisting of fielding and maintaining radio systems while serving alongside numerous infantry platoons. After my service, I attended New York City College of Technology, where I earned my Associate's Degree in Computer Science, and served as a mathematics tutor and as a college laboratory technician.
