Maximizing LinkedIn for Career Success! Last night, our participants dove into all things LinkedIn with Jon Aasted, MPA who shared insights from both an HR recruiter and a job seeker perspective. This two-pronged approach helped everyone see LinkedIn through both lenses—how recruiters search and how job seekers stand out! Key takeaways included: ? Optimizing Profiles – Customizing URLs, using professional headshots (no uniforms!), and crafting compelling headlines. ? Telling Your Story – Writing achievement-driven summaries with keywords to showcase skills. ? Building Credibility – Giving and receiving recommendations, highlighting experience, and making profiles contactable. ? Engaging & Networking – Following companies, joining groups, and interacting with content. LinkedIn isn’t just for job hunting—it’s for building relationships! Are you a senior-level service member or military spouse within one year of transitioning into the civilian workforce? Last night at VetCTAP, HR Professional, Jennifer Quigley, walked participants through various job search strategies. One of significance - The Power of a Schedule in Your Job Search ??? When you joined the military, structure was built into your daily life—you had a schedule, clear tasks, and knew what was expected of you. Now, as you transition into the civilian workforce, no one is handing you a schedule. But that doesn’t mean you don’t need one. In fact, creating a structured plan for your job search is crucial—because job searching can be a full-time job. A well-organized schedule should include: ? Networking events – The majority of jobs are found through connections, not online applications. ? Informational interviews – Learning from professionals in your target industry can open doors. ? Mock interviews – Preparation is key to standing out in actual interviews. ? Resume updates – A well-crafted, tailored resume increases your chances of landing interviews. ? Physical fitness – Maintaining discipline and wellness keeps you sharp. ? Breaks for mental health – Prevent burnout and stay focused. ? Time with family – Balancing personal and professional priorities is essential. Without a plan, it’s easy to lose momentum. But with a structured schedule, you take control of your transition—just like you always have. Job searching is a skill. Do you want to hone that skill so you are successful in your job search? If you are a senior-level service member or spouse, within one-year of transitioning into the civilian workforce, register for one of our upcoming free virtual workshop series. Only three remaining this year! See link in comments section below with details and registration information ?? #militarytransition #jobsearchstrategies #VetCTAP
