We are delighted to recognize Somnath Mandal, Ph.D. who presented the latest refractory R&D from Vesuvius Pittsburgh Research on a newly optimized fracture toughness and work of fracture measurement techniques at the St. Louis Refractory symposium. A team of exceptionally talented professionals from Vesuvius Pittsburgh Research also contributed to this project including Nagendra Nag, Tim Tracy, Sara Galley and?Mark Snyder. The full paper is under review with Journal of The American Ceramic Society and findings are being considered for an ASTM standard. Vesuvius Launches L-Tech DuraPlate? We are proud to recognize the Vesuvius Pittsburgh Research team lead by Brian Kenyon and Zoran Krstic that drove R&D activities around mix development and characterization to bring the DuraPlate L-Tech to market.? Congratulations to Brian, Zoran and the technical team of Ryan Kish, Ryan Matukaitis Jason Andring, Eric Bell and John Simelis on this achievement! L-Tech is the newest member of the Vesuvius DuraPlate family of ladle plate offerings. The “L” in the designation stands for?Long?– as in long casting applications such as billet, bloom, and near net shape casters.? It will be applied primarily to customers with these casters in the Engineering or Construction Long markets.
