Our Vertin-Munson Funeral Home & Cremation Service location in Wahpeton, North Dakota, is humbled to join a truly unique project with North Dakota State College of Science (NDSCS). Tasked with respectfully laying to rest human remains once used for educational purposes, NDSCS sought our support in guiding these remains to a dignified final resting place. The journey began with NDSCS consolidating collections from across the state, ensuring every individual would receive proper care. Our Vertin-Munson team then worked alongside Vertin colleagues at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home & Cremation Services to arrange the cremation and planned a burial ceremony at Fairview Cemetery, where the remains were laid to rest in a space once gifted to the college by a former student. Projects like this remind us why we serve—helping our community in meaningful and sometimes unexpected ways, preserving stories, and honoring lives with respect and reverence.?

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that our colleague and friend, Shane Decker, died from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on August 9, 2024. Along with being a loving husband, dad, grandpa, and friend, Shane was a longtime Funeral Director, Location Manager, and, most recently, Regional Director at Vertin. His fun sense of humor, can-do attitude, and genuine compassion made such a positive impact on those who knew him. He will be so very missed.
