?? Overheard at our Native Maine booth... ???? We had an incredible time at the Native Maine Produce & Specialty Foods Show in Portland! Meeting so many passionate chefs, buyers, and food lovers reminded us why we do what we do—growing fresh, flavorful greens year-round. Here are just a few of the things Nona Yehia, Nicole Bojic, Lindsay and Riley overheard at our booth on Monday: ?? "I can’t remember the last time the first thing I put in my mouth in the morning was green!" ?? "So many different flavors just from greens!" ?? "We will definitely be on the lookout for you!" ?? "Best micros we’ve had year to date. They actually taste like something!" ?? "Oh my gosh, that’s so cute!" ?? "The future of food is local." ?? "I would just eat microgreens all the time." We look forward to bringing the power of local food to kitchens across Maine—one bite of fresh, flavorful greens at a time. ??? We've been ?? sowing the seeds of disruption since 2016 ?? and are gearing up to realize our sweet, sweet greens at a grand scale...
Nine Years of Growth, Learning, and Innovation Nine years ago, Vertical Harvest Farms planted its first seeds in Jackson Hole, Wyoming—a small but mighty farm that has been the foundation of everything we’ve built since. Through nearly a decade of hands-on operation, we’ve learned: ? What to grow & who to grow it for - refining our product-market fit and deepening our customer relationships. ? How to train and develop our workforce - building an inclusive employment model that strengthens both our business and our communities. ? How to integrate technology & growing systems - creating efficient, beautiful farms that optimize production while honoring place. And now, with the support of our long-time partners , PB tec, Atrium Agri, and VH Systems, we’re taking everything we’ve learned and scaling it 20x - from Jackson to Westbrook, Maine. These partners have been with us from the start, helping us evolve from a pioneering idea into a repeatable, scalable model for the future of urban farming. The Dutch have been perfecting hydroponic farming for generations, and their expertise, know-how, and continuous R&D have been invaluable in shaping our approach. With 30+ years of cutting-edge innovation paired with our decade of hands-on operations, Vertical Harvest is ready to operate at scale. From Jackson to Westbrook and beyond - this is just the beginning. #SustainableGrowth #FutureOfFood #VerticalHarvest #HydroponicFarming #CEA #Innovation #ScalingWithImpact

"The future of business is inclusive. Discover how to be a part of this transformative movement with 'Case Studies in Disability-Driven Innovation'." We had the great pleasure of working with Author Robert (Bob) Ludke, presenting key insights and case studies from our #inclusive workplace model (Grow Well, if you haven't heard ;-) You can purchase "Case Studies in Disability-Driven Innovation: A Better Future Through an Inclusive Economy" on Amazon or ask your local bookseller to order it for you! "This book is a roadmap for how we can combine our many skills and collective brainpower to solve some of the world's most challenging problems today – poverty, #climate change, resource scarcity – to name just a few. To be clear, disability-driven innovation is not about imposing one’s values on others. This is not about telling people who to hire. It is not about quotas. And it is most certainly not about treating disability as a charity. #Disability-driven innovation is about bringing together our unique talents in a way that creates long-term value for companies, #investors, and, ultimately, every one of us. We need to focus on maximizing our talents, and not dismissing people and what they bring to the table. " - Robert (Bob) Ludke Couldn't have said it better ourselves! We're hell-bent on healthy and all in on proving that GOOD TASTES GREAT! This is also the secret ingredient to advancing #FoodAsMedicine, but dietary interventions in chronic health conditions often fail when they aren't easy, affordable and you guessed it - tasty!
I rarely post two articles in a row, but after Ellen Brown's reflections on her visit to the Capitol, I couldn't resist - the momentum behind Food Is Medicine is real. But the message she heard from policymakers was just as important: ? No more free handouts. If Food Is Medicine is going to scale, it has to be a proven business model. ? If you can demonstrate an impact on chronic disease, you’ll get somewhere. ? If you can reverse chronic disease while connecting agriculture, food, and healthcare outcomes, you’ll get undivided attention. ? Don’t rely on funding streams that are tied to shifting political landscapes unless you have a backup plan. ? Find the farmers, then find the doctors - because food and healthcare must work together. This is the playbook. The pathway is clear. And Vertical Harvest Farms, we’re already executing on it. We connect agriculture and health. Our farms aren’t just growing food - we’re growing solutions. By producing hyper-local, nutrient-dense greens, we are bridging the gap between food and healthcare. We have a replicable, profitable model. Vertical Harvest farms balance automation, technology, and workforce innovation to drive high-yield, high-impact operations. This is exactly what the market is demanding: a scalable solution that delivers real health and economic outcomes. We are proof of what’s possible. If food is going to be taken seriously as medicine, we need models that not only feed communities but strengthen them. Vertical Harvest is scaling this reality - one farm, one city at a time. The message was delivered. The opportunity is here. Who’s ready to build this future together? #FoodIsMedicine #FoodIsHealth #SustainableAgriculture #EconomicResilience #WorkforceInnovation #FutureOfFood #VerticalHarvest

Gotta believe to achieve...
The U.S. just rejected the UN Sustainable Development Goals. So where does that leave us? Regardless of where you stand politically, this decision is a stark reminder that progress isn’t guaranteed - it’s something we have to fight for, build, and sustain at every level, especially locally. At Vertical Harvest Farms, we’ve always believed that the real work of sustainability, equity, and economic resilience doesn’t just happen in global agreements - it happens in communities, businesses, and local economies. If policy isn’t going to lead the way, then we have to. How do we, as business leaders, entrepreneurs, and changemakers, double down on local action to ensure that sustainability, inclusivity, and economic opportunity remain at the forefront? This isn’t just a question for the future - it’s a challenge for right now. Let’s share, learn, and push forward - because this work doesn’t stop.

35-40% of all the fresh fruits and vegetables we consume in the U.S. are imported, with Mexico and Canada making up the majority of those imports...
?? Food prices are about to rise - again. With fresh produce among the first products to be impacted by tariffs, we’re reminded just how vulnerable our food system is. In 2022, Mexico and Canada supplied over half of our fresh fruit and nearly 90% of our fresh vegetables. A disruption in trade means higher costs, supply chain instability, and less access to fresh, healthy food - especially in cities. It’s time to rethink where and how we grow our food. Bringing food production back to our cities isn’t just about resilience - it’s about economic opportunity. Vertical farming creates local jobs, strengthens regional economies, and ensures communities have a reliable, cost-effective food supply year-round. It’s a modern manufacturing solution that works in tandem with traditional agriculture to stabilize our food system in times of uncertainty. We can’t afford to wait. The need for secure, local food economies has never been clearer. Now is the time to invest in innovative solutions that make our cities stronger and our food supply more resilient. #FoodSecurity #LocalFoodEconomy #VerticalFarming #EconomicResilience #FutureOfFood
