Check out this video from the Utah Rotor Pathway Program's Third Annual Fly-In at Cedar Valley High School in Eagle Mountain, Utah. On Friday, Sep. 13, students got to see aircraft up close and heard from industry pilots, aircraft mechanics, and others about their experiences and passion for vertical aviation. They also learned how to pursue a career in the in-demand field. Numerous local operators, including Classic Aviation, Intermountain Life Flight, MOUNTAIN WEST HELICOPTERS, LLC, Southern Utah University, Universal Helicopters, Utah Helicopters, Utah National Guard, Utah State University, and more, flew in helicopters, allowing attendees to see the aircraft and meet the crews that serve their communities in a variety of missions, including air ambulance, utility, firefighting, training, charters, and more. VAI is always working to encourage future generations to join our dynamic industry. VAI, state agencies, and educators in Utah developed the Rotor Pathway Program to spark high-school students' curiosity about vertical flight, offer aviation education, and then connect them with opportunities to become licensed aviation pilots and mechanics, all while providing mentoring and job opportunities with Utah rotorcraft operators. The Rotor Pathway Program can be a template for other states to use for their workforce development efforts, and North Dakota already has its program up and running!
