The task to deliver these two industrial vessels to a new south Louisiana facility was recently challenged to the Berard team. Arriving by ocean vessel to the Port of New Orleans, Berard first determined a suitable route out of the downtown located terminal for the 180 foot long and 18' high loaded dimensions, albeit with less than an inch of height clearance from fixed obstacles in some locations. After transport design by Berard engineering and approval from LA Department of Transportation, Berard utilized 16 axle lines of Faymonville ModulMAX platform trailer and two prime movers to transport the 600,000 pound gross weight via the 20-mile route from the port terminal to the new industrial facility. Berard first received one vessel to the heavy haul trailer, then set to staging stands. The second vessel was received to the trailer and readied for road transport. To minimize traffic congestion, the Berard team departed the origin at 5:00 am, arriving to the destination site by noon the same day. The second vessel was retrieved from stands and delivered the following day. Job Specs: Weight: 316,368 lbs. OXBO just wrapped up transporting 6 control buildings ranging in widths from 16’ to 23’6”, heights up to 19’7” and lengths up to 90’2”. All 6 buildings weighed between 137,000 and 242,000 pounds and were transported utilizing 3 different trailer setups.
