A heartwarming story from one of our business coaching clients, Up End This. #affordable #sustainable #home built in Vermont.
Welcome Home, Mom. This is what a Satellite delivery looks like: a bright, modern, move-in-ready home—complete with a small welcome gift on the counter. A house plant in a yellow pot. A keychain with the Satellite logo. A simple card that says, “Welcome home.” This particular Satellite was more than just a new place to live. It was about bringing family closer. A mother and daughter bought this Satellite together so that Mom could move “next door” instead of two hours away. Now, the grandkids can run over after school. Dinner together is just a short walk away. And everyone gets the best of both worlds—proximity and privacy, connection and independence. The space itself? Sharp. Clean lines. Bright and airy. Yet unmistakably home. Take a look at the photos. Could you see yourself living here? Or maybe moving a little closer to someone you love? #WelcomeHome #ModularLiving #SatelliteHome #ModernDesign #PrefabHomes #SmallButMighty #FamilyFirst #SustainableLiving #HomeSweetHome #MinimalistLiving #InnovativeHousing #UpEndThis #Affordablehousing #Vermont

This one is for the cheese lovers! If you’ve ever tried Jasper Hill Farm's Harbison or Winnemere, you’ve likely noticed the thin, wood wrap that holds the cheese together. That’s called “cambium” and David DuCharme in Greensboro, Vermont is one only a few suppliers in the world. It’s a very cool, niche little forest economy business. If our fields and forests are the cornerstones of our working landscape, then this is the edible embodiment of that landscape. This is the story of two local businesses—a dairy farm and a sawmill—innovating together to produce a product that is not only delicious, but also revitalizing the local, rural economy. Read the full story at: https://lnkd.in/g7KxTe3u. When Scott Duffy moved his family to a farmhouse in Vermont in 1987, his wife looked around and suggested that he “get busy building a dining table” so the family would have somewhere to eat. The project sparked something in Scott, eventually leading to the custom wood furniture business, Rockledge Farm Woodworks, which he shares with his son, Ian, today. Navigating growth post pandemic has been challenging for the father-son team, who brought in business coaches from VSJF (Steven Voigt & Carolyn Cooke) to help plan for the future. “If we can sustain the people who work here, attract a handful of good employees, support a healthy forest economy, and continue to turn out heirloom quality furniture, then I’m happy.” - Ian Duffy, second generation owner of Rockledge Farm Woodworks.
