NHEEP educators Aubrey Nelson and Angie Krysiak were in Hooksett, NH yesterday teaching 5th graders at Hooksett Memorial School about energy efficiency and where our electricity comes from. Check out the photos of kids feeling the difference between the energy needed to power an incandescent vs. LED lightbulb, watching Angie making electricity with steam from a pressure cooker, and then seeing if they could create electricity with wind turbines and solar panels. Next time we'll try to collect an audio track as students figure things out and go "Oooooh, now I get it!"

VEEP's Aaron Heyerdahl brought a bunch of awesome activities to ECHO's (https://lnkd.in/gt7AxGGJ) "Circuits Circus" to teach kids and families about how we can make electricity from renewable sources and (through efficiency measures) use less electricity. Check out the energy bike and kids crafting their own wind-powered vehicles!

Registration is now open for VEEP/NHEEP's Summer Institute for teachers! How can we integrate real-world problem solving, joy, and impactful climate solutions into our schools and communities??Come work and play with us in the White Mountains of NH as we approach these questions together.? https://lnkd.in/gp9eMVmM “This is an excellent workshop that feels like teacher’s summer camp! The instructors are engaging, knowledgeable, incredibly supportive, and fun. There was time for learning, planning, and play. I am coming away from this week feeling connected to facilitators and the other participants, empowered to guide students in effecting change, and more knowledgeable about climate change, problems from it, and ways to go about solving problems in my community”--2024 participant
