Very simply, we built Verity to create an engaging & rewarding mental healthcare experience for everyone-- including those who aren’t currently in care. A majority of people who need treatment are not actually getting it.?So we set out to solve for this population, as well. We hope Verity can meaningfully engage with this population and educate them about helpful skills, exercises, and resources--- with the eventual goal of navigating this population into an appropriate level of care. ???????? ?????????????????????????? Verity is now available in the Apple app store as an affordable subscription ($39.99/yr, with a free trial). This is a big change. Why are we doing this? 1. To support our mission: We built Verity to make Mental Health a more engaging and rewarding experience for everyone—not just those in treatment. That means we need to reach those who are considering therapy, those who can’t afford therapy, those who might not know they need therapy--- and this subscription let’s us do this. 2. It can also help us reach those in therapy in a non-participating practice that are looking for a treatment-adjacent support tool. 3. Access is critical for mental health, and we believe creating an affordable resource tool will have a big positive impact. The core app is the same sans sharing feedback directly with your therapist, as well as converting the points into gift cards. Our eventual goal is to couple this with our care navigation partnerships and offer screeners that can route patients into an appropriate level of care in as little as 24 hours within our existing B2B partnerships. More on that later. All the advice we got was “don’t do subscriptions on top of your B2B model—VC’s wont understand it, it’ll be too hard to manage, blah blah”. Well, we did it anyway. For 3 reasons: 1. To support our mission and live by our values. 2. If there’s one guarantee I’ve learned from my experience working in startups, it’s that there’s no playbook to follow for success. 3. We like a challenge. Maybe subscriptions will be a huge success, maybe it’ll be a huge failure. Either way, you’ll find out soon (as it comes with the territory of building in public…). There’s a big problem with our business model. We built Verity to make Mental Healthcare a more engaging, game-like experience for all. We based it off of 3 clinically proven models: ??Contingency Management (Behavioral Economics) ??Engagement? ??Gamification So, we built our model around partnering with Practices to offer Verity to their patients. Now, here’s the problem… Our mission is to change the Mental Health experience for ????????????????. Not just those already in treatment. Which, under our current approach, is downright impossible, since: ??Only 10% of those struggling with a substance use disorder are receiving care.? ??Only 50% of those struggling with any mental illness are receiving care. So, who is going to help the other 90% & 50%, respectively? We began to realize that if we truly wanted to solve for this problem, we need to meet people outside of therapy sessions in a completely different way (whilst still staying true to our core business model built around Practices). Which is why we’re excited to announce some really big news... in our next update ??
