In Mexico, 3.7 million children are engaged in child labor, with one-third of them working in agriculture, often in hazardous conditions. Since 2019, our Senderos project with Verité has been tackling child labor and other forms of labor exploitation in the tobacco and sugarcane fields of Jalisco and Nayarit. The project has strengthened the government's capacity to enforce labor laws in agricultural supply chains, raised private sector awareness and compliance, and enhanced farmworkers' knowledge of their labor rights and grievance mechanisms. We are thrilled to share that Senderos is expanding to address labor exploitation in additional crops, starting with mangos! The project has secured agreements with two mango companies and will soon begin training workers in Nayarit. It will continue to expand to other crops where companies are committed to ending child labor and improving labor conditions.
