A message from Veritas Catholic Network’s President, Steven Y. Lee, on the opening ceremony of the Olympics: Unfortunately, Christian persecution is widespread, state-sanctioned, and accepted by broad swaths of society. It is sad and disheartening to see our faith constantly mocked by people who don’t truly understand what our faith teaches. God is love, and that’s our message: LOVE. Even while so much hatred is directed at Christians, the Church professes and practices love. The kind of bigotry shown at the opening ceremonies of the Olympics is shrugged off by too many as “no big deal”… and even necessary. When it is followed by a perfunctory and careless apology, the insensitivity is more hurtful and divisive. Bishop Barron is correct when he says that a sincere apology is not directed to folks “if they were offended”. If you’re sorry for what you did, then be sorry for what you did… don’t just be sorry that people didn’t like it. I’m grateful to Bishop Barron and the courageous voices who have spoken up in the face of this vulgar display. And I take comfort in knowing that we’re following in the path Jesus himself set for us. “If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.” -John 15:19 Take courage! I'm very grateful to Renewal Ministries for this wonderful opportunity to sit and talk with Ralph Martin, one of my heroes of evangelization. "The Choices We Face" is the longest-running Catholic television program in the world, available on five continents and distributed by national & local cable networks, independent broadcast stations, and international satellites.

My wife Roula battled leukemia just days after we launched Veritas Catholic Network. The faith-filled way she suffered was inspiring… and just how the Lord asks all of us to suffer. I humbly submit to you this short (10-min) reflection on suffering (and rejoicing in our suffering). I believe that we can all strengthen each other by sharing how God has brought us through difficulties... and so I pray this might be helpful to you.
