Very important work published in ASAIO Journal by Andrew Kalra and team mining the ELSO (The Extracorporeal Life Support Organization) database. This work shows that atrial pulse matters during VA ecmo support. Significantly fewer brain issues and fewer gut issues when patients had a pulse pressure greater than 10 mmHg. https://bit.ly/3Xj0vcv The VentriFlo True Pulse pump (not yet cleared) can deliver such a pulse through an oxygenator. Professor Ellen Roche and her team have?developed a soft robotic biohybrid heart and computational fluid models to support valve assessment for Tetralogy of Fallot, a heart defect in newborns. “This was a great collaborative study and we hope that it can help with investigating patient specific repair strategies for patients with ToF or other congenital heart defects,” says Roche. https://lnkd.in/eppx7Jt4
