?? "Automation in construction isn’t about replacing workers—it’s about giving them better tools to work smarter, faster, and with fewer mistakes." says L. D. Humphreys in this awesome article from his newsletter for GCs who are tech-enabled or aren't-but-want-to-be, "Adopt or Die". ?? He's right; automation in construction isn’t about replacing workers—it’s about empowering them and keeping them safe, and this article is a bullseye. ?? The contractors most likely to grow and succeed in changing times are already learning to leverage automation to reduce rework, optimize labor, and streamline admin and these are some of the most important reasons Vendoor makes integrating with existing platforms such a high priority; the more information we can give you in the digital tools you already work with, the more informed decisions you can make with accurate and actionable data. Interested in give your general contracting company a tech renovation? L. D. Humphreys is one of the best in the business! ??? Ready to make data-driven AND safety-focused decisions with the information about who is on your jobsites? At Vendoor, we have you covered. ?? ??♀? ???

At Vendoor, we believe that every project owner, facility manager, and general contractor should always know the Five Ws; WHO is on-site, WHAT they’re working on, WHEN they arrived and left, WHERE they’re supposed to be, and WHY they’re there. Not just for efficiency—but for safety. Our journey started with a personal experience that, at first, was just a funny story to tell at parties and professional groups. Adam was once locked in a store catwalk overnight. He was working as a subcontractor, and when he went up to complete his work, a store employee—who didn’t know any better—put the ladder, his only escape from the catwalk, "back where it belongs". What should have been one hour of work turned into 8 hours locked in the ceiling. A minor mishap? Maybe. But it revealed a major flaw in site management: contractors, project managers, safety teams, and facility operators often have no real-time visibility into the Five Ws of their jobsite. Then, everything changed. In May 2023, a tragic fire broke out on a construction site in Charlotte’s SouthPark neighborhood. It was a five-alarm blaze that spread rapidly, trapping workers inside. Among them was 30-year-old father of four, Demonte Sherrill, who used Facebook Live to plead for help. His mother watched his final moments as he prayed and tried to escape, but the room filled with smoke, leaving no way out. Firefighters rescued 15 workers that day—but two never made it home. Learning about what happened changed the way we think about site visibility forever. The investigation revealed a failure in emergency planning—no real-time way to confirm who was still inside, and a response system that wasn’t built for the reality of fast-moving chaos. It was a stark reminder that when something goes wrong on a jobsite, every second counts—and knowing exactly who is there, where they are, and if they’ve made it out safely isn’t a nice-to-have. It’s the difference between life and death. We built Vendoor to ensure that no general contractor, facility manager, or operations team ever has to guess who is on-site, what’s happening, when workers arrive or leave, where they’re supposed to be, or why they’re there. No more paper logs, no more unreliable check-in processes—just clear, real-time visibility. Since launching, we’ve heard from project managers, safety professionals, and facility operators who have seen firsthand how much time, money, and stress they save by knowing exactly who’s on-site, what they’re working on, and when they’re there. But at the core of everything we build, our goal remains simple: make job sites, warehouses, facilities, and commercial spaces safer, more efficient, more accountable—and more connected. #ConstructionTech #JobsiteSafety #SiteManagement #FacilityManagement #WhyWeDoThis PS - our cofounder can't be the only one who got stuck in a ceiling! What's your craziest site story? Add it to comments or DM us, we'd love to hear from you!
