My face is aching from smiling so much and my feet hurt from standing and hugging so many people, but my heart is absolutely full after last night! The Dallas Women Lawyers Association 2024 Awards Gala was a smashing success; I am overjoyed and grateful to those that were able to celebrate our Ruby Jubilee!?What a fantastic event, made even more special because of the immense talent of our "O.G." Raggio Award winner and Mistress of Ceremonies - Senior District Judge Barbara M. G. Lynn! Kudos and thank you to Donna Wood and Rachael Jones, DWLA's fearless Co-VPs of the Awards Gala. These women are bright, shining stars and helped create an event that celebrated and honored our amazing Award Recipients: Haley Ablon, Rising Raggio;?Jessica P., Outstanding Corporate Counsel;?Judge Rebecca Rutherford, Outstanding Judiciary Member; and Justice Robbie Partida-Kipness, Louise B. Raggio Award. It was so special to have esteemed bar leaders in attendance to celebrate, including: Bill Mateja, Vicki Blanton, Stephanie Gause Culpepper, Edward J. Loya, Jr., Haleigh Jones, Elissa M. Wev, Thomas McMillian, and Kandace Walter. To my fellow Dallas Bar Board Members,?Allied Bar Leaders,?The Podium,The NEW Roundtable, Inc., and the Latina Lawyer Network, one of the best parts of this year has been getting to know each of you and establishing meaningful connections as we work to make Dallas a better legal community for all. Last night was also a great reminder that there have been so many incredible women that have laid the groundwork for DWLA to flourish. I would not have had the opportunity to lead if it were not for?the hard work and dedication of: (1) Marisa O'Sullivan, whose innovative leadership allowed DWLA to reach new (and nationally recognized!) heights through incredible programming and who continues to positively influence and impact all in her orbit; and (2) Alison Ashmore, whose steady hand continued to keep the "train on the tracks" as we launched a new website/portal, and who continues to lend an ear and provide thoughtful guidance and mentorship. To the current DWLA Board of Directors, you are the most fabulous women I have ever had the pleasure of working with. It has truly been the honor of a lifetime to stand side-by-side with you all as we work to elevate the standing of women in the legal profession. Chelsea Hilliard will take the helm next year as President of DWLA! Chelsea is brilliant, bold, and a proven leader, as well as an incredible friend and advocate. DWLA will continue to excel under her leadership! To my McCathern family, your support, mentorship, and guidance have been instrumental in my professional career. Thank you for allowing me the time and space to lead and develop a platform to "improve people's lives." Lastly, being DWLA President has allowed me to join a sisterhood of amazing lady lawyers who continuously inspire me to be the best version of myself. Thank you for your time, talent, and fabulous friendship!
