关于我们
VEIR is developing a new generation of High Temperature Superconductor (HTS)-based transmission lines. VEIR’s evaporative cooling architecture delivers 20 times the cooling power per kilogram of coolant flow compared to conventional approaches. VEIR’s innovations will enable reliable, low loss, cost–effective HTS-based transmission over long distances in narrow rights–of–way, connecting the lowest cost renewable power to where it’s needed, when it’s needed.

Great article in Bloomberg emphasizing the urgency to modernize power grids in the US and Europe. Generation Investment Management released their annual Sustainability Trends Report, highlighting why upgrading our antiquated grid infrastructure is crucial for accelerating the energy transition. With renewable energy becoming cheaper and more abundant, the bottleneck is outdated transmission systems, slowing down new power generation projects. To meet net-zero carbon goals by 2050, the world needs to triple its investment in power grids by the mid-2030s, BloombergNEF estimates. https://lnkd.in/ecdJzM2Y

Last week at Cleantech Group's ???????????????????? ?????? ???????????????????? event, our #GridResiliency Panel featured a range of speakers including?Sander Cohan?from National Grid Partners,?David Miller?of Clean Energy Ventures,?Jessica Harrison?from VEIR, and?Mishal Thadani?from Rhizome.?Highlights from the conversation include: ??As a strategic investor, National Grid Partners seeks to help entrepreneurs deploy alongside utilities and improve their speed to scale. ??Clean Energy Ventures has co-invested with National Grid Partners on various investments including LineVision. Dynamic line rating (DLR) solutions are incredibly relevant in conversations about creating a more resilient grid, especially as weather patterns fluctuate and temperatures increase nationwide. ??Mishal Thadani discussed the need for utilities to understand and calculate risk especially as the number of extreme weather events and weather-related outages increased quite dramatically in the last decade. Rhizome’s platform leverages artificial intelligence, historical climate data and future weather forecasts to identify vulnerabilities and help utilities plan investments around this data to create a more resilient system. ???Jessica Harrison from VEIR, also discussed the importance of improving transmission capacity using their system which leverages high temperature superconductors and a novel cooling system to allow transmission capacity to increase five times compared to traditional conducting lines. Their cooling systems also prevents sag which is a challenges other conducting lines face as temperatures rise. VEIR was also featured in our recent blog highlighting how the commercialization of #fusion technologies has impacted solutions in other industries including electrical transmission.
