?? In a new Smart Cities Dive article titled "The Gaps in Building Decarbonization Programs - and How to Fix Them" authored by VEIC, they dive into the need to serve low- to moderate-income households equitably to achieve true decarbonization. ?? The article calls out our Home Energy Savings program in California where we provide free home energy assessments to LMI households, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement repairs and retrofits. ???No Matter the Outcome, Our Mission is Clear ?? With the election underway, we understand — and share — the uncertainty many feel about the future of our country and our planet. Like all who work in climate, we are fully committed to tackling the weeks and months ahead hand in hand with our colleagues, partners, and communities, regardless of their political beliefs. However the results turn out, VEIC’s commitment to our mission remains steadfast. We will continue to work tirelessly to make clean energy more accessible for everyone by removing barriers to participation and filling the equity gaps that exist today and those that may widen in the future. Climate change requires our collective action, and we’re honored to be part of an industry where people celebrate each other’s efforts to create a healthier, more sustainable world. The climate community’s dedication has laid the groundwork for the progress we see today, and we’re brave enough to admit that our journey is far from over. Trust in our institutions is paramount, and it is built through active participation and collaboration. By working together, we can accelerate the deployment of critical funding to the communities that need it most. To do that requires support and engagement as we push forward in our mission to generate the energy solutions the world needs. Though political tides shift over time, the work we do for people and the planet is constant. Together, we will continue to move forward with resilience, and we are deeply proud of the impact we are making. No matter the outcome, our mission is clear. Whatever it takes. Make an impact. ??

Obligatory White House pic! What a treat to meet with members of President Biden’s National Security Council to discuss climate resilience, multilateralism, and UNA-NCA’s work advancing the Sustainable Development Goals. At VEIC, I’ve dedicated most of this year to supporting State Energy Offices in leveraging Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) funds to expand electrification and energy efficiency programs across the country. Clean energy and climate justice are both hyperlocal and overwhelmingly global challenges— I appreciate that I have the opportunity to bridge gaps between how we tackle this work at all levels.

Exciting day last week for #SolarForAll as we attended the ribbon-cutting for a new community solar system at The Cloisters, bringing affordable clean energy to over 325 households! This project is a major step towards providing clean, affordable energy to District residents. It will cut electricity bills by up $500 per year for income-qualified households anywhere in the District. It was inspiring to see the progress being made towards a sustainable and equitable energy future for DC residents, thanks to Horning, New Columbia Solar, and the Department of Energy & Environment (DOEE) for their leadership in this effort.

Thank you to all who attended and contributed to the vibrant launch of Vermont's New England Women in Energy and the Environment (NEWIEE) Chapter! Our panel discussion, featuring Mari McClure (President and CEO, Green Mountain Power), June Tierney (Commissioner, Vermont Department of Public Service), and Sarah Adams (Vermont State Policy Advisor, ISO New England Inc.), provided valuable insights into clean energy projects and the essential contributions of women in our industry. The conversation centered around women's unique challenges in the industry, with each panelist sharing their personal experiences and advice for breaking barriers and driving change. The local leaders also discussed strategies for achieving a zero-outage goal, providing affordable energy to income-eligible Vermonters, and the importance of balancing reliability with decarbonization efforts. Events like this underscore our commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion in the energy and environmental fields. Together, we pave the way for a more inclusive and sustainable future! ???? #NEWIEE #WomenInEnergy #EnvironmentalLeadership
