We're gonna say it. Those who understand sales dominate their field—no matter what it is. ?? "I had no sales experience prior to working here, and honestly didn’t know what to expect when I started. But through persistence, coaching, and a willingness to learn, I grew as a salesperson, student, and leader. ~ In sports media, I’ll need to pitch stories, work with sponsors, and build relationships. ~ Being able to communicate well and connect with people is key. ~ As an entrepreneur, sales is important for gaining customers and growing a business. The skills I’ve gained, like talking to people, solving problems, and closing deals, will be useful for building my career and business. ~ Overcoming struggles early on taught me that failure isn’t the end, it’s just part of the process. ~ That mindset has helped me both inside and outside of Vector, and now, as I prepare to run my own branch office this summer, I know every challenge is just another step toward growth. ~ Running an office as a Branch Manager while still in college will be a huge opportunity to learn about business firsthand, and it sets me up for future success, whether I stay with Vector or pursue other ambitions." - Brady Anderson, Branch Manager (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) | Sports Media major/Entrepreneurship minor at The University of Nebraska-Lincoln (Class of 2026)

Decide on your major! What are you going to do with your life? How are you making this summer count? See the pattern - all the difficult questions. If you'll give us 3 minutes, read the below for some refreshing perspective from someone who's right there with you. Meet Skylen, the pilot recruiting manager out of Columbus, Ohio ... " 1?? Progress takes time, and setbacks are part of the journey. Stay committed to a goal, even when challenges occur. This is what sets you apart from others. 2?? Break down big goals into smaller ones. This helps to reframe the end goal in a way that seems more manageable. Celebrate the small accomplishments along the way! Use your end goal as motivation to push past the hard challenges. 3?? Instead of focusing on failures, use them as an opportunity to learn and grow. Stay focused on the vision. 4?? Lean on your team and managers for guidance and help. Ask them how you can approach a task differently, and how they plan ahead to anticipate challenges before they arise. 5?? It’s okay to feel defeated, but instead of focusing on what went wrong, shift your focus on how you can learn and grow from that experience. ~ If a goal doesn’t challenge or scare you, it’s not big enough. Feeling nervous or uncertain is a sign that you’re passionate and truly invested in what you’re pursuing." - Skylen Stephens, Pilot Recruiting Manager (Columbus, OH) ?? The ‘easy job’ you’re working in college? It’s holding you back ?? You clock in, do what’s expected, and go home. No stress. No extra effort. Life is good… Until graduation hits ?? Suddenly, you’re competing with the peers who prioritized growth over comfort and now have: ??? Communication & persuasion skills ?? Confidence in handling rejection & negotiations ?? “Before I started with Vector, I was homeless. Fast forward to now… I never gave up on myself and was able to flip my first rental property. The biggest lesson I’ve learned through this experience is that you have to have the right mindset to improve your lifestyle. When I started in sales, I worked my butt off to get on my own two feet again. I knew that if I gave up in my mind, I would’ve failed. Through that process, I was able to understand what hard work really meant and figured out that I was a natural born leader. Helping reps become better people and impacting them was the inspiration that I needed to help myself become successful, not only financially but physically and emotionally as well. Don’t be afraid to chase your dreams, because no one else can chase them for you. Because of the lessons and skills sales has taught me, I’m working towards flipping even more rental properties in the future. I hope my journey can inspire others to never give up on what you put your mind to, and never stop believing in yourself. I thank God everyday for giving me an opportunity to help others become better people, not only for themselves but for generations to come.” - Tyjahn Starks, District Office Manager (Belton/Temple, TX)

Some people assume sales is just for business majors. But that couldn’t be further from the truth... No matter what you major in, one thing is certain: knowing how to connect with people and communicate your value is ESSENTIAL. So whether you’re an artist, an athlete, or a future entrepreneur - the ability to sell yourself is just as important as any degree. “Right out of my freshman year of college, I was incredibly burnt out from a school year full of classes that I had more than a lack of interest for. Being a multi-instrumentalist looking to go into the music industry by studying business, I felt uninspired by the courses I had to take. I quickly realized that I can’t let a period of exhaust define me. Even with my grudge towards business, I took a chance and started working with Vector… and I’m so glad that I did. Having learned how to build connections in the music industry, I was able to take that skillset and apply it to my business. Now, after having been an assistant manager and running my own branch, I’ve grown tremendously both as a young professional and as a human being. Through Vector, I’ve been able to strengthen my connection building skills and garner a close circle of high caliber musicians who have since asked me to help them on projects that now have millions of streams on Spotify. To anyone reading this, my advice to you is: don’t let a period of exhaust define you or close you off from new opportunities. Bad days shouldn’t skew your perception of good things.” - Katy Nathan, Field Sales Manager (Farmington, CT)
