Today, we’re featuring more recent research using Vector Laboratories products. In this paper published in Scientific Reports, researchers from Osaka University Graduate School of Medicine (大阪大学医学系研究科) investigated the role of intratesticular creatine in fertility to better understand the relationship between decreased creatinine levels and infertility. The researchers found that knockout of the creatine-synthesizing enzyme, Gamt, decreased intratesticular creatine and, in turn, disrupted cellular tight junctions. Creatine supplementation normalized this issue and improved both sperm count and fertilization rate, demonstrating the role of intratesticular creatine level in fertility. For immunofluorescence imaging of alpha-tubulin, researchers counterstained slides with VECTASHIELD® HardSet Mounting Medium to prevent photobleaching and preserve fluorescence.
