Vector-borne diseases spotlight ?? Dengue is a viral disease transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes, thriving in growing urban areas worldwide. In 2024, we saw an uptick in dengue travel-associated cases in the U.S. With four virus strains, a second infection can lead to severe complications like dengue hemorrhagic fever, especially for those with weakened immunity. Symptoms include high fever, headaches, joint pain, rash, and nausea, while severe cases may show abdominal pain, bleeding, or persistent vomiting. There’s no specific treatment, but rest, fluids, and acetaminophen can help. ??
