The Vermont Captive Insurance Association humbly began with a few people sitting around a table brainstorming how to best represent captives, how to increase Vermont visibility as a domicile, and how to be be a major educational resource for the captive industry at large. Nearly forty years later VCIA has hit its prime, as the world's largest captive insurance association, one that is financially sound and resource equipped. With 43 days until 2025, VCIA unveils this week its 40th Anniversary Sponsorship Campaign, in which allied organizations can join us on the incredible journey that is to come as we innovate and modernize the association for tangible benefits to VCIA members and stakeholders. The anniversary sponsorship campaign was intentionally designed to be inclusive with different tiers so all supporters with varying budgets and marketing needs can join us and see high-quality exposure and ROI that will last throughout the whole of 2025. For all details concerning the sponsorship campaign, visit https://lnkd.in/eXFBfKur Your point person for the 40th sponsorship campaign will be Angie Armour. Let's get talking on how we can partner together for the BIG year ahead! The entire VCIA Board and staff is committed to a watershed year for the association and we are excited for the journey to begin ?? This week's Captivated Blog from Kevin Mead catches you up on VCIEL and the reception they hosted last Thursday. One big reminder is that VCIEL is a major asset for VCIA members, as the emerging leader group proactively works to educate students, connect them to industry opportunities and ultimately support them finding careers in the captive space for the long term. On that note, it was good to hear at the reception that one local student already has a captive job lined up after he graduates in Spring 2025. Great work, VCIEL! https://lnkd.in/einDFuDt

VCIA's annual, fan favorite captive taxation webinar is back, and registration is now live! Register this way: https://lnkd.in/eyNaskWG Catch up on the latest updates concerning captive taxation with the dynamic duo of Charles (Chaz) Lavelle (Dentons Bingham Greenebaum) and Daniel Kusaila, CPA, DBA (Crowe). They will go over the captive tax nuances regarding formation and redomestication, and discuss where the IRS currently stands in its treatment of captives. The Ask Me Anything Open Forum returns this year as well, so be sure to bring your questions! Many thanks to Dana H Marino of Innovative Captive Strategies in coordinating the content for this webinar.

VCIA staff is one of the main reasons why this association excels and advances the captive industry https://lnkd.in/eFnhKX_w
I can't believe it's been exactly one year since I joined the VCIA team. The past 12 months have flown by and I'm so happy I took the leap to a new job in a new industry. While I miss my people at St. Mike's dearly, I feel fortunate to have landed at VCIA and can't imagine being anywhere else. I'm incredibly grateful to my fabulous colleagues for their patience and guidance as I've learned the ropes, to my friends at DFR/DED who have made my conference trips so fun, and to the generous and supportive captive professionals I get to work with daily. Thank you for welcoming me to the captive insurance industry. 2025 is going to be a big year and I'm here for it!

Last night, some Butler University - Lacy School of Business grad students and faculty joined up with Vermont college students and admin, as well as VCIEL members and Vermont captive regulators, for what was a splendid night devoted to raising awareness for captive insurance career paths + captive insurance and risk management as valuable assets for a college business curriculum. Special thanks to Hylant and Vermont Captive for sponsoring the event, and VCIEL wants to give a big shout out to the Butler students as well as the undergrads from University of Vermont Grossman School of Business, Champlain College and Saint Michael's College who showed up to learn about captives!

Many thanks to Strategic Risk Solutions and Patrick Theriault and Christopher Plumpton for hosting VCIA’s November in-person staff meeting. Fun fact, the SRS office building on Church Street in Burlington used to be an opera house and a bagel factory!
