Our CEO, Peter Kinne, recently returned from the USA after participating in the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) Space Mission, alongside some of Australia’s leading space innovators. ? The mission provided an exciting opportunity for collaboration, sharing of Australian space capabilities, and learning from industry leaders in the heart of the U.S. space sector. Austrade organised a highly engaging program, including formal meet-and-greet sessions and roundtable discussions with key figures like NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration astronaut Tim Kopra and commercial space station developers from Axiom Space. ? One interesting insight we learned- every NASA astronaut is interviewed at the renowned Frenchie’s Italian Restaurant—where the food is as rich as the walls, adorned with pictures and historical artifacts. It's a unique tradition that adds a touch of flavour to the space industry! ? The trip also had its adventurous moments, as we narrowly avoided the incoming Hurricane Helene in Orlando. ? Space Coast’s launch company using plastic as rocket fuel ?? Vaya Space, established in 2017 in Cocoa, FL, is pioneering a groundbreaking approach to rocket technology with its hybrid-powered rocket. The company is leading a movement towards greener and more cost-effective space exploration by integrating sustainability with innovation, aiming to disrupt the market by lowering launch costs. Their innovative Star-3D propulsion system uses recycled plastics as fuel, offering an eco-friendly alternative for accessing space. Each launch is expected to consume nearly 20 metric tons of recycled plastic. While many companies rely solely on liquid or solid propellants, ?Vaya Space is setting itself apart with its hybrid-powered vehicle the Dauntless rocket, which stands just under 115 feet tall. About 70% of the rocket's components, including injectors and nozzles, are 3D printed. Currently in the testing and development phase, Vaya Space plans to launch from Space Force Launch Complex 13 as early as the second half of 2026. "We're excited to be on the Space Coast.
