We are proud to announce that Vatn Systems has won the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Keyport Prize Challenge #1754: UUV Autonomous Mission Operations Development – Tire Detection Challenge! This competition, sponsored by NUWC Division Keyport in collaboration with Office of Naval Research & NavalX focused on advancing UUV autonomy for real-world mission planning and environmental hazard detection by leveraging digital twins. Our team delivered an innovative solution by developing a custom Autonomous Target Recognition (ATR) system, along with custom Reinforcement Learning-based and Information-Driven Motion Planning approaches tailored for AUV operations. This challenge pushed the boundaries of real-world autonomy, perception, and mission execution in complex undersea environments. A huge thank you to the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) Division Keyport and the Office of Naval Research (ONR)/Navalx for organizing this challenge, and to our incredible team for continuously pushing the limits of UUV autonomy and real-world maritime AI. This week marked a major accomplishment for our team, the delivery of 10 vehicles to a customer. We haven't announced it previously, but we have been delivering vehicles to customers since late 2024. Vatn went from drawing board to vehicles sold and delivered to customers in 17 months, a testament to our focus on product and mission of maritime superiority! Seen below, our patent-pending modularity system allows our vehicles to be rapidly assembled without tools, making transport and the attachment of a variety of payloads a painless process. #maritimesuperiority
