This morning, we officially broke ground on MidPen Housing Corporation's?Oak Gardens?and celebrated the building of 62 affordable Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) homes for veterans in Menlo Park, California. . It was a beautiful day in every way, and we thank the many local leaders, community members, and partners who gathered to celebrate the beginning of this exciting project that will serve veterans, including formerly homeless vets, with units for individuals and families. . Unique details are beginning to emerge at Eden Housing, Inc.’s 3301 Kerner Blvd. “This is the fun part of adaptive reuse projects” says Giselle Alcazar, Project Architect of 3301 Kerner, "we are able to highlight the details like exposed structural brace frames turned into usable shelf space and small variations to the individual unit entrances, ultimately creating a one-of-a-kind home for future residents." Eden Housing's 3301 Kerner is the adaptive reuse of a commercial building into 41 units of permanent supportive housing and services for the homeless. Site Visit! On Friday we were able to tour Mercy Housing and Abode Communities' 231 Grant educator workforce housing in Palo Alto, California. . Thanks to the amazing design team: Fred Pollack, Elaine Uang, Mary Helen Kennedy, Jamilla Afandi, and Sophia Zhang, we were able to see the progress firsthand and learn about the impact these homes will have on our community. It was inspiring. Collaboration between developers, city planners, and design professionals is key to making housing accessible and sustainable. Rick Williams and Mary Helen Kennedy were celebrating New Year's Eve by punching St. Elizabeth's Place in Houston, Texas. Thanks to the dedicated work of Lauren Daley, Project Architect, Phase 1 is almost complete. Phase 2 is up next! .
