We recently opened Valor South Austin's permanent home! Located near Circle C at the?intersection of 45 and S MoPac in Austin,?the building has capacity for over 1,500 students and contains sixty-two classrooms, including seminar rooms, science labs, and art and music rooms. Special features include a black box?theater, a?spacious courtyard, outdoor patios, a library,?and a secure playground. For the school’s competitive athletic programs, there is a dual-use football and soccer field, cross-country trails, a weight room, and two gymnasiums with a performance stage, locker rooms, showers, fitness areas, and laundry facilities. We're grateful for this new space for our students to grow in wisdom through wonder.

Human flourishing depends upon the cultivation of wisdom, virtue, and friendship.
关于我们
At the heart of every person is a desire to know and to be known. We believe a truly human education addresses our deepest longings—to pursue knowledge, to have meaningful friendships, and to grow in wisdom and virtue. Valor Education exists to educate the whole person in authentic communities for a full human life. Through our classical charter schools and the Valor Institute, we build communities dedicated to wisdom, virtue, and friendship. Valor Classical Charter Schools Valor operates a network of the highest quality K-12 tuition-free classical charter schools. Our distinctive program offers students a full human education rooted in the classical liberal arts tradition, from the Great Books to fine arts to advanced math and science. In 2022-2023, Valor serves over 2,200 students in central Texas. Through Socratic teaching and a school culture filled with joy, respect, and deep engagement, our classical schools are forming students in wisdom and virtue so they can become fully alive and truly free. The Valor Institute Every civilization has its own unique challenges. The Valor Institute is a creative response to the challenges of our time: the degradation of civic discourse, a reductionist view of the natural world, and the fraying bonds of friendship and community. Through our centers in Austin and San Diego, the Institute offers a rich and personal counter-proposal to these challenges. Each of our initiatives is designed to cultivate wisdom, inspire gratitude, and deepen friendship.

“To celebrate a festival means: to live out, for some special occasion and in an uncommon manner, the universal assent to the world as a whole.” - Josef Pieper ? The Valor Institute is very excited to announce Dr.?Jonathan Sanford, President of?The University of Dallas, as our keynote speaker on Plato’s?Apology?for our annual Winter Symposium. The Valor Institute looks forward to hosting our annual Winter Symposium at Valor North Austin on Friday, January 31, 2025. True celebrations and festivals are not to be understood simply as days without work but instead as days set aside for participating in the ars liberalis, or “in the realm of activity that is meaningful in itself." Our daily labors are worthy and honorable, but man is made for more than work. ? This is an important day of true leisure with our Valor Education community. We will meet together for shared meals, rich seminar discussions, inspiring speeches, and a festive social to follow.

Recently, all of the?second-grade classes at our five Valor Education schools honored their study of?D'Aulaires' Book of?Greek?Myths. The photos shown are from?Valor San Antonio, where students?donned?togas, made?leaf wreaths while listening to?Greek?music, crafted a cardboard labyrinth, created paintings of vases and decorated them with ancient designs, and snacked on honeycomb, olives, and pita bread. Students also played a?mythology-themed math game, built an acropolis with graham crackers and marshmallows, and received a?Greek?medal to end the day. This is just one of the many ways that we cultivate wisdom through wonder for our students, faculty, and families.

“Once well underground, you know exactly where you are. Nothing can happen to you, and nothing can get at you. You're entirely your own master and you don't have to consult anybody or mind what they say. Things go on all the same overhead, and you let 'em, and don't bother about 'em. When you want to, up you go, and there the things are, waiting for you.” ―?Kenneth Grahame,?The Wind in the Willows
