Congratulations to Eunju Dumars, an RN in the Birth Center for winning a DAISY award. Here's what her nominator wrote: We came in for induction to deliver our 4th?baby last Sunday – things didn't go as planned and we ended up in a scary position getting a C-section, not knowing if our son was OK. We were nervous and scared. Through the whole process, JuJu helped keep us calm, was so knowledgeable and guided us through the whole process. She really held it together for us and without her I don't think we would have ended up leaving here with a healthy baby. I can't put into words how grateful we are, or the impact she had. I've had 3 babies previously and never once had such an amazing nurse. This hospital really is a better place with her here. Thank you to all of you for everything you do for people.

Congratulations to Jennifer Duong, a Unit Secretary Monitor Tech on 6 South and one of our September 2024 Employees of the Month! See what her colleagues had to say: "Jennifer is a very valued asset to VMC 6 South. Not only is she a pleasure to work with, calm under pressure and will not hesitate to roll her sleeves up and help anyone. She is resourceful, gives excellent customer service to patient's, families and staff. Jenn is a whiz at reading EKG... I have asked her "Did you just make that up" then she just smile and explain a bit more, so it makes sense. Recently we had an exciting and important upgrade with our Phillips monitoring system. Jenn really went above and beyond. She was at many meetings, very involved with vendors and management to really help the transition go as smoothly as possible. She came in on several days off, rounded on units and checked in with each Tele Tech passing on information and getting ideas. She really took on this project and went above and beyond for her team and our patients. You could say she was a project manager for this representing Techs from 6 South. We thank you Jennifer!!!?

Congratulations to Marina Wilburn, PCA in General Surgery (5S), for receiving the BEE award! Marina received three nominations. Here is what one of her nominators wrote: I want to recommend Marina for the BEE Award. She is a great, compassionate employee of VMC. I have recurring UTIs that lead to polynephritis and unfortunately, I was admitted in the hospital. While I was staying in the hospital and going through pain, Marina came in like a God sent angel. She made me feel comfortable. She offered me heating packs and made me laugh with her awesome humor. I always forgot about my pain when Marina was in my room, as she redirected my focus.??I am a very religious person, and I always pray in the morning. Due to my condition, I could not get up easily and clean myself. But Marina knew about my Indian culture. She came in and helped me get cleaned up so I could pray. I was amazed to see this compassion in her and it was so wonderful to see her respecting others' religions and culture. Marina deserves this award! She is a very empathetic caregiver. With her presence, she helps patients to feel better. Whenever my family was visiting, she always came in and introduced herself and asked me if I needed anything. Marina is one of Valley's 5-star employees and she deserves this award more than anyone. She knows how to respect others' cultures and continuously treats people with dignity and care. She made me feel so much better during my stay. Marina, keep up the good work. You are a hero. Valley is so lucky to have an employee like you. Thank you.
