The Valley Air District is currently promoting our?AB 836 Clean Air Centers Pilot Program?(https://lnkd.in/gK-APcBB) and applications are currently being accepted for the following counties: San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Merced, Madera, Tulare and Kern. ? Funding is available for public and private entities to receive commercial Portable Air Cleaners & Replacement Filters to last up to 5 years, at no-cost. ?Public Entities – include, but are not limited to, schools and libraries. ?Private Entities – include, but are not limited to, community centers, senior centers and sports centers. ? In the past few years, California wildfires have increased in severity and intensity. These fires also produce heavy smoke that has impacted nearly all of the state and blanketed communities for days or even weeks at a time, creating significant exposures to particulate matter and air toxics for the people in these communities. ? The Clean Air Centers Pilot Program was established by?Assembly Bill 836 (https://lnkd.in/gVTQiGxt), which provides funding to create Wildfire Smoke Clean Air Centers for Vulnerable Populations and establish a network of publicly accessible facilities with high-efficiency air filtration systems for valley residents who may not otherwise have access to clean air during wildfire events. ? Our latest effort working with Valley Air District has been featured in The Business Journal Fresno! In Spring 2023, the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District awarded Tree Fresno $1 MM (increased to $2 MM in 2024) to implement the urban greening project throughout South Central Fresno. The Valley Air District Urban Greening Project is part of California Climate Investments, a statewide initiative that puts billions of Cap-and-Trade dollars to work reducing greenhouse gas emissions, strengthening the economy, and improving public health and the environment. The project will fund five hundred (500) 5-gallon trees for residents living in the AB 617 Boundary of South Central Fresno. In addition to residential trees, one thousand and two hundred (1200) community 15-gallon trees will be planted. Attention Residents, consider Adopt A Tree - Fresno: Residents who live in the designated AB 617 area of (SOUTH CENTRAL) Fresno are eligible to receive a free tree from the Adopt A Tree program. A 5-gallon drought-tolerant tree (limited species) will be provided to each qualifying household in South Central Fresno (only).
