Who are we? Vallejo Project is a community service center designed to improve student outcomes by connecting youth to multi-generational enrichment and development opportunities in the trades, art, wellness and culture. Vision: Empowered youth- engaged in service- realizing their potential. Mission Statement: Vallejo Project ‘s mission is to empower youth to realize their fullest potential by connecting them to enrichment and development opportunities in the trades, art, wellness and culture. Our Approach: Our approach is to engage citizens, of all ages, to volunteer their time and talents in service of our youth through multi-generational educational activities. We bring together a passionate team of diverse educators, artists, and community advocates to offer weekly workshops and live webinars. We offer leadership and professional training through post secondary education opportunities for youth ages 18-20 in a variety of fields. In our programs, youth engage with local and international communities. We offer intensive training programs in filmmaking, web design, communication, project management and business development.   • Overview of Our Programs: 1. **431 Hinton St.:** This program offers low-cost transitional housing for youth aged 18-26 who have limited access to transportation. Participants also receive free food, providing crucial support during their transition period. 2. **Carpentry Path:** Geared towards youth interested in construction careers, this initiative pairs tradesmen with participants to build two sheds every quarter. After six months, participants are offered employment opportunities through partner organizations, providing them with valuable skills and pathways to sustainable employment. 3. **VCUSD Workability:** Collaborating with Vallejo High School's employability program, this initiative focuses on enhancing students' skills in wellness, communication, and construction projects. By providing practical experiences and training, it prepares students for the workforce and empowers them to pursue their career goals. 4. **Unity Garden:** As part of the VP Youth Initiative, Unity Garden aims to promote unity, wellness, and access to healthy food within the community. Through this program, participants engage in gardening activities, fostering a sense of community while addressing food insecurity and promoting healthy living. 5. **Youth Radio:** Operating on OZCAT, Youth Radio is a platform dedicated to community programming, giving voice to the people, especially marginalized groups like "la raza." With a commitment to authenticity and truth-telling, it serves as a vital outlet for expression and advocacy within the community.
