关于我们

For more than 65 years, Vallecitos Water District has been local water and wastewater specialists, providing water, wastewater, and reclamation services to San Marcos; the community of Lake San Marcos; parts of Carlsbad, Escondido and Vista and other unincorporated areas in north San Diego County. Originally founded as the San Marcos County Water District in 1955 by a group of local citizens to answer the shrinking water table in the San Marcos and Twin Oaks valleys, the District was formed in accordance with Division 12 of the Water Code (sections 30000-33901 et seq.) to provide imported water from Northern California and the Colorado River. The San Marcos County Water District continued to grow as an independent, special district and in May of 1989, changed its name to the Vallecitos Water District. Today, with a new name and extended focus, Vallecitos Water District currently serves a population of more than 105,000 within its 45-square-mile boundary. • Thursday was a historic day for Vallecitos. The District's Twin Oaks Reservoirs, the heart of our water distribution system, was renamed the Ed Pedrazzi Water Storage Facility after the heart of our District...former Operations & Maintenance Manager, Ed Pedrazzi. We're proud to name this rock of our District after such a special employee, and even dedicated a "Porta Pedrazzi" to Ed so we can remember him on a daily basis. Congratulations Ed!

  • Sharing some San Diego tap water facts... o While water may be free at the source, our water wholesalers must move it long distances through huge canals, pipes and treatment plants. o That system needs ongoing repair and large amounts of energy to move and treat water. o Water agencies are subject to the same inflationary challenges as everyone else for things like electricity, steel, treatment chemicals and equipment. o Water agencies, including Vallecitos, are cutting costs and seeking new sources of revenues to minimize ratepayer impacts. o Due to decades of proactive and strategic work, we have plenty of water for our region, even during dry conditions or drought. o Our water...our team...are here for you!??

  • Yesterday, Vallecitos hosted "San Diego Women in Water" an extension of the CA-NV AWWA Women’s Leadership Committee. The group’s goal is to develop a supportive platform that cultivates relationships and ideas while supporting careers for women in the water industry.

  • Shout out to all our customers for your continued water conservation efforts! A recent study showed that Southern Californians have reduced their per person potable water use by 45% since 1990. The region used a record low 114 gallons per person per day in 2023, down from 209 in 1990. In addition to long-term investments in water-efficiency, the reduction is thanks to conservation practices that continued from the last drought, along with the cool, wet winter that followed last year. Vallecitos and our water wholesalers will continue to help ensure our customers have a sustainable water supply, but having our customers continue to use water wisely puts San Diego in a better position to weather future drought years. • Although no water system can guarantee 100% effectiveness against a large wildfire, maintaining water tanks and rehabilitating them when needed is vital to ensure they are ready in an emergency. Watch our latest video to see how our Coronado Hills Tank was recently upgraded to prepare for wildfire season or read the Water News Network article at bit.ly/4kfFJ76.
