Thanks to those who emailed me! 🌍 What's Your Most Memorable Travel Experience? For me, it unfolded during a milestone birthday celebration. We rented a villa just outside Milan and arranged for a chef to prepare a sumptuous dinner for my family. The evening was perfect, with delectable dishes, carefully selected wines, and homemade desserts, all enjoyed by the pool overlooking serene waters. The tranquility took an unexpected turn when I awoke early to find my backpack's contents scattered around the pool. Cleaned wine glasses were oddly placed outside the window, and crucial items, including our rental car keys, were missing. The Italian police, aided by Google Translate, revealed that we had been put into a deep sleep by a sleep-inducing substance. Our rented car and some belongings were gone. However, as resilient New Yorkers, we focused on our safety and the irreplaceable memories we had created. This experience taught us valuable lessons: always take pictures of your rental car (inside and out) and your belongings. We're still navigating the resolution with the car rental agency, but the lessons and memories are unforgettable.
