As you may know, my journey into experiential learning and game design began during my time as a student at Duke University. A few days ago, I had the chance to reflect on that experience with my former professor, and now the CEO of the start-up where I spend my days, Daveed Gartenstein-Ross on the NCITE Insights Podcast. We talked about how I first got involved in wargaming last year and what it was like to return to the other side of the table as a referee this past fall. Some of my favorite highlights from our chat with Blake Ursch: - How I got hooked on experiential learning –?as a student, these exercises gave me the chance to test ideas, challenge assumptions, and, as I’m always saying nowadays “put theory into practice.” - How Immersive Exercises can be a space for tough, often controversial, conversations and dialogue in a world that (as studies show) is getting more and more polarized. - A review of the quantitative and qualitative feedback of the Duke game, one of the first studies of its kind on wargames.
