??Vale Domestic Abuse Services Wins Community Charity of the Year!?? We are delighted to have been awarded the Bro Radio Community Awards ‘Charity of the Year’ award 2024! Bro Radio’s annual Community Awards celebrate businesses, organisations and individuals who make a significant impact on the local community in the Vale of Glamorgan. The ceremony took place at Penarth Pier Pavilion on Friday 7th June. Thirty-three finalists from eleven categories came together alongside sponsors, dignitaries and members of the Bro Radio team for the celebration, as part of the local radio station's fifteenth birthday. To be selected amongst a group of incredible local charities that were nominated in this category is a huge honour and we are thrilled to have been singled out for the work that our team does to support survivors and their families. This award sends such an important message to the women we help. It says to them that the local community stands with them and cares about what they have been through. It will help survivors to know that they are seen, they are heard and they are believed. With a 30% increase in number of women and families reaching out for support in the last year, now more than ever it is important that a spotlight is placed on the services we provide so that more women and their families can access the support and safety that they need.”

It was an absolute honour to work with the local community to platform survivor voices, this #internationalwomensday. Working with the amazing Dan Read and Steffi Andrews, we turned this project around in an incredibly short timeframe, and created something really impactful. Every year, Vale Domestic Abuse Services provides vital support to over 1,000 women in our community who have endured domestic abuse, sexual violence, or any form of male violence. We listen, we support, and every day, we hear their stories—stories that too often remain untold because it’s not safe for survivors to speak out themselves. But these stories matter. They must be heard. This #InternationalWomensDay, we invited members of our local community to voice the testimonies of survivors—bringing their experiences into the open and showing unwavering support for all those who have suffered. By speaking their truth on behalf of those who cannot, we ensure survivors feel seen, heard, and understood. What is crystal clear this International Women’s Day is that our community stands in solidarity with survivors. Together, we take a firm stand against male violence and show the world that no one faces this struggle alone.
