Announcing our new Chief Nuclear Officer, Mark Mitchell!
I’m very excited to announce that Valar Atomics has recruited Mark Mitchell to join us as Chief Nuclear Officer! We’re honored that Mark has chosen us to use his talents and experience to accelerate the mission of Valar Atomics, compounding the capabilities of our growing team. Mark comes to us from a career in advanced nuclear engineering, from the innovative Pebble Bed Modular Reactor to his recent role leading the development of the Micro Modular Reactor as president of USNC-Power. Mark has now joined us full-time as our CNO here in El Segundo. In the last 6 months, I've interviewed dozens of the top nuclear executives around the world–but none stood out to me as much as Mark in his work ethic, wisdom, and willingness to marry decades of hard-earned experience with the innovative thinking of the Valar Atomics game plan. Our mission at Valar Atomics is to get atomic energy on an industrial scale and make energy cheaper for mankind by leveraging the global hydrocarbon market. We're now in the trenches developing our first reactor, and I'm so excited to have Mark joining us at this vital stage. New job up for Valar Atomics: Materials Engineering. You will work with mechanical, thermal hydraulics, and nuclear engineers to select materials. Create relationships with vendors, order tests to validate material performance, and negotiate pricing and supply timelines. As you go, you'll build a proprietary database of materials and their properties (availability, cost, performance, etc). You will report to the Director of Engineering.
