关于我们
The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (VirginiaDMV) serves a customer base of approximately 6.2 million licensed drivers and ID card holders with over 7.8 million registered vehicles. The agency's responsibilities include vehicle titling and registration, driver licensing and maintenance of driver and vehicle records. The agency also collects Virginia's fuel tax, monitors the state's trucking industry and serves as Virginia's Highway Safety Office. In addition, the agency effectively enforces motoring and transportation-related tax laws, and efficiently collects and distributes transportation-related revenues. VirginiaDMV has more daily face-to-face contact with Virginia's citizens than any other state agency. DMV also serves a wide array of businesses, including dealers, fuels tax customers, rental companies, driving schools, other state agencies, local governments and non-profit organizations.

On Sunday, we observed World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims. In Virginia, the past five years have seen 4,554 lives lost and 36,002 people seriously injured on our roads—a stark reminder of the importance of road safety. Deputy Director of Programs in our Highway Safety Office, Kimberly Burt, joined DRIVE SMART Virginia, traffic safety advocates, crash survivors, and families of victims at Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond to honor those affected and call for greater awareness. We urge all drivers to stay vigilant and make safety a priority. Together, we can reduce these tragic numbers and protect our communities.

Over the weekend we held our final car show to celebrate our 100th Anniversary! Our last show was centered around tractor trailers for our “Trucking Through the Decades: A Safety Showcase”. ???? Nearly 500 attendees showed up to the Keystone Antique Truck & Tractor Museum in Colonial Heights for a day of trucks and interactive safety exhibits to learn how to share the road safely with tractor trailers. A huge thank you to our safety partners and collaborators for making this possible! Colonial Rod Club, Virginia Tech Transportation Institute, DRIVE SMART Virginia, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, Urban One, Inc 's Community Clovia with Radio One, law enforcement and more! With your help we were able to raise $1,500 for Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Virginia, bringing the total funds raised from all four of our shows to $8,200! It’s such an honor to be able to give back to such an important cause. ????

November is Native American Heritage Month; this year's theme is “Recognizing 100 Years of Citizenship and the Right to Vote: 1924-2024.” A notable figure we would like to highlight is Sharice Davids, U.S. Representative for Kansas' 3rd district and a member of the Ho-Chunk Nation. Raised by a single mother, Davids worked her way through community college and Cornell Law School while balancing multiple jobs. She later served as a White House Fellow and has since championed many transportation infrastructure improvements, including a $97 million project for the I-35 Highway in Kansas. Let's celebrate and honor the rich cultures, histories, and contributions of Native Americans throughout our nation’s history.
